Banks increase interest rates again
Bac A Bank's mobilization interest rates have just increased for most terms, with an increase of 0.2%/year for terms from 1 to 12 months and an increase of 0.1%/year for terms from 13 to 36 months.
After adjustment, deposits under 1 billion VND, 1-2 month terms are applied at 3.7%/year; 3-month terms increase to 4%/year; 4-5 month terms reach 4.1% and 4.2%/year respectively. Notably, the interest rate of over 5%/year has returned for a 6-8 month term, recording 5.15%/year. 9-11 month terms were listed at 5.25%/year, while the 12-month term increased to 5.6%/year.
With an additional 0.1%/year interest rate for long terms, Bac A Bank currently applies 5.7%/year for 13-15 month terms and 5.9%/year for 18-36 month terms for deposits under 1 billion VND.
For deposit accounts of 1 billion or more, the interest rate is also corresponding. 1-2 months term is 3.9%/year; 3 months 4.2%/year; 4 months 4.3%/year; 5 months 4.4%/year; 6-8 months 5.35%/year; 9-11 May 5.45%/year; 12 May 5.8%/year; 13-15 May 5.9%/year. In particular, the 18-36 month term has officially exceeded 6%, up to 6.1%/year-the highest savings interest rate on the market today as announced by banks.
Similarly, Agribank has also adjusted the deposit interest rate for online deposits with a term of 1224 months, with an increase of 0.1%/year. Accordingly, the online deposit interest rate for 1218 months was raised to 4.8%/year, while the 24-month term was adjusted to increase to 4.9%/year.
This move returns interest rates for long terms to the old level before January 3, 2025, after a slight decrease since the beginning of the year. Meanwhile, Agribank will keep interest rates for short terms from 19 months unchanged.
Since the beginning of April, the market has recorded 3 banks increasing deposit interest rates, namely CIMB Bank Vietnam, Agribank and Bac A Bank.
The two banks that adjusted in opposite directions are OCB and Eximbank. Of which, OCB increased sharply by 0.2 - 0.75%/year, after adjusting down on April 14 before. Similarly, Eximbank adjusted interest rates in the direction of reducing short terms and slightly increasing long terms.
On the other hand, there are 7 banks that have reduced deposit interest rates, including: VPBank, MBBank, Standard Chartered, Nam A Bank, Public Bank Vietnam, OCB and GPBank.
Highest special interest rate 6.5-9.65%
The highest interest rate is up to 7.5-9.65%, but to enjoy this interest rate, customers must meet special conditions.
ABBank leads in special interest rates, at 9.65%/year for newly opened/repetited customers with savings deposits of VND1,500 billion or more, term of 13 months.
PVcomBank also applies a special interest rate of 9%/year for a term of 12-13 months when depositing money at the counter. The applicable condition is that customers must maintain a minimum balance of VND 2,000 billion.
HDBank applies an interest rate of 8.1%/year for a 13-month term and 7.7%/year for a 12-month term, with the condition of maintaining a minimum balance of VND500 billion.
Vikki Bank applies the interest rate of 7.5%/year for term deposits of 13 months or more, with a minimum amount of VND 999 billion; Bac A Bank is listing the highest interest rate of 6.1% with a term of 18-36 months for deposits of over 1 billion; IVB applies 6.15% interest rates for 36 -month term, conditions applicable to deposits of VND 1,500 billion or more.
ACB applies an interest rate of 6%/year for a 13-month term with interest paid at the end of the term when customers have a deposit balance of VND200 billion or more.
At LPBank, for deposits of VND300 billion or more, the mobilization interest rate applied to customers receiving interest at the end of the term is 6.5%/year, receiving monthly interest of 6.3%/year and receiving interest at the beginning of the term is 6.07%/year.
Banks with interest rates exceeding 6%
Currently, interest rates above 6%/year are being listed by some banks for long-term deposits but do not require a minimum deposit amount.
Cake by VPBank applies an interest rate of 6%/year for a term of 12-18 months and 6.3%/year for a term of 24-36 months; HDBank applies an interest rate of 6% for a term of 18 months; BVBank also pays 6.1%/year for a term of 60 months and 6.0%/year for a term of 48 months. VietABank maintains the only 6.0%/year for a 36-month term
