Techcombank interest rates increase slightly

Techcombank's deposit interest rates increased slightly by 0.2%/year for terms from 1-11 months. After adjustment, for online deposit accounts under 1 billion VND, the interest rate for terms of 1-2 months is 3.35%/year; 3-5 months is 3.65%/year; 6-11 months is 4.65%/year; 12-36 months remains at 4.85%/year.

With online deposits from 1 billion VND to under 3 billion VND, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms is 3.45%/year; 3-5 months is 3.75%/year; 6-11 months is 4.7%/year; 12-36 months is 4.9%/year.

For online deposits of 3 billion VND or more, the interest rate for 1-2 month terms is 3.55%/year; 3-5 months 3.85%/year; 6-11 months 4.75%/year; 12-36 month terms is 4.95%/year.

Notably, Techcombank adjusted the interest rate up by 0.2% for some terms (from 0-11 months) right after reducing the interest rate down by 0.2% for terms from 1-5 months on February 3. Techcombank is also the first bank to adjust interest rates this month.

Special interest rate highest 7-9%

The highest interest rate for a 12-month term is up to 7-9%, but to enjoy this interest rate, customers must meet special conditions.

PVcomBank leads with a special interest rate of 9%/year for a 12-13 month term when depositing money at the counter. The condition is that customers must maintain a minimum balance of VND2,000 billion.

HDBank applies an interest rate of 8.1%/year for a 13-month term and 7.7%/year for a 12-month term, with the condition of maintaining a minimum balance of VND500 billion. In addition, an interest rate of 6% is applied for an 18-month term.

MSB listed interest rates of 8%/year for 13-month terms and 7%/year for 12-month terms. The condition is a minimum deposit of VND500 billion from newly opened or automatically renewed savings accounts from January 1, 2018.

Dong A Bank applies an interest rate of 7.5%/year for deposits with a term of 13 months or more, with a minimum amount of VND 200 billion. A 24-month term applies an interest rate of 6.1%/year.

Bac A Bank has the highest interest rate of 6.2%/year for terms of 18-36 months, with deposits of over 1 billion VND.

Banks race to raise interest rates beyond 6%

Currently, interest rates above 6%/year are being listed by many banks for long-term deposits but do not require a minimum deposit amount.

Eximbank applies an interest rate of 6.5-6.8%/year for long terms from 15-34 months; BVBank applies an interest rate of 6.05% for 12-month terms, 6.25% for 15-month terms, 6.35% for 18-month terms and 6.45% for 24-36-month terms;

IVB applies the highest interest rate of 6.45%/year for 5-15 year term, 6.25%/year for 48 month term, 6.15%/year for 36 month term and 6.05/year for 12 month term; KienLong Bank applies the interest rate of 6.1% for 12-24 month term, 6.3% for 36 month term and 6.4% for 60 month term;

GPBank applies an interest rate of 6.05%/year for a 12-month term and 6.15%/year for terms from 13-36 months. Cake by VPBank applies an interest rate of 6%/year for a 12-18-month term and 6.3%/year for a 24-36-month term; OceanBank applies an interest rate of 6.1% for a 24-month term;

VRB and Dong A Bank apply an interest rate of 6% for a 24-month term; VietABank applies an interest rate of 6% for a 36-month term; SaigonBank applies an interest rate of 6% for a 13, 18 and 24-month term, and 6.1% for a 36-month term; HDBank applies an interest rate of 6% for a 15-month term and 6.1% for a 18-month term; BAOVIET Bank applies an interest rate of 6% for a 15, 18, 24 and 36-month term; ABBank applies an interest rate of 6% for a 12-month term; CB applies an interest rate of 6% for terms of 12 months or more.
