On May 23, in Dong Gia Nghia ward, Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee coordinated with units to organize a Conference to assess potential and trade promotion, connect agricultural product consumption markets to promote production, processing and sustainable agricultural product value chain development.

The conference was attended by about 200 delegates, representatives of businesses operating in the fields of processing and exporting coffee, pepper, macadamia, vegetables and fruits inside and outside the province.
Speaking at the conference, Mr. Phan Nguyen Hoang Tan - Director of the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Lam Dong province said that after the merger, the province has conditions to form large-scale concentrated production areas, strengthen regional linkages and develop processing and export of agricultural products.

Currently, Lam Dong has a natural area of about 24,000km2 with more than 1 million hectares of agricultural production land, mostly fertile basalt soil, and a favorable climate for the development of diverse crops and livestock.
Over the years, the local agricultural sector has continued to affirm its role as a high-tech agricultural center with many key products such as coffee, pepper, vegetables, flowers, durian, dragon fruit, avocado, macadamia...

Currently, the total coffee production of the whole province reaches over 1 million tons/year; vegetables about 3.5 million tons; flowers about 4.6 billion branches/year. The whole province has more than 1,200 planting area codes and over 300 packaging facility codes serving exports.
Lam Dong agricultural products have been exported to many major markets such as China, the United States, the European Union, Japan, South Korea and Australia.

At the conference, delegates focused on discussing the potential, competitive advantages and agricultural development orientations in the context of international integration; and at the same time proposed solutions to improve the value of agricultural products, develop raw material areas and promote deep processing.
Mr. Bach Thanh Tuan - Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Coffee - Cocoa Association said that after the merger, Lam Dong became the locality with the largest coffee area in the country with about 314,000 hectares being harvested. However, the coffee industry still mainly exports raw materials, and the value of international brands is still limited.

According to Mr. Tuan, localities need to strengthen the linkage of raw material areas, apply digital technology in traceability, develop deep processing and build sustainable coffee brands.
On this occasion, 6 cooperatives and businesses of Lam Dong province signed memorandums of understanding on cooperation with domestic and foreign partners to promote production, consumption and expand the local agricultural product market.
