The spirit of Vietnamese enterprises is not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of hardship
Industrial fans business people call businessman Tran Van Le - Director of Phuong Linh Mechanical and Trading Production and Trading Company Limited - " reward of the Northern Land fans".
Born into a poor family in Thanh Chuong district (old), Nghe An province, after finishing high school, he enlisted in the army. Starting in a difficult economic situation, he worked in many jobs to make a living: From carrying goods for hire, running markets, buying duck eggs, wood ear, green beans to sell at Dong Xuan market. Many years later, he became a used goods trader.
"For 10 years, from 1990 to 2000, I found hundreds of thousands of opportunities to develop and decided to stick with old things. Many people call me "Mr. Le for gold", I immediately corrected "I am Mr. Le for technical gold".
From his experience in buying and selling used goods, he realized that the demand for industrial ventilation fans is increasing. From there, he decided to step into production, creating "Made in Vietnam" industrial fan products under the Phuong Linh brand.
"This September, we will open a factory in Vinh (Nghe An) with a scale 3 times that of the factory in Me Linh. I want to return to my hometown, contribute to the local economic development and create jobs for people in Thanh - Nghe - Tinh areas" - Mr. Le said.
Speaking about Resolution 68 on private economic development, Mr. Le said that this is an important turning point for economic transformation and development. According to him, one of the important solutions is to form and rapidly develop small and medium-sized private enterprises, creating regional and international-scale corporations - the "leading factors" of the economy.
Mr. Le affirmed: "The spirit of Vietnamese enterprises is not afraid of difficulties, not afraid of hardship. The important thing is that each enterprise must be aware of its responsibility, not only enriching itself but also contributing to building the country".
A key change
Mr. Nguyen Viet Thang - General Director of Hoa Phat Group - said that the Government's identification of the private economy as the most important economic component is a fundamental shift in management thinking and national development strategy planning.
"Up to now, everyone knows that the private economy accounts for the largest proportion in the economy, larger than the State sector and the foreign-invested sector. But for the first time I see the Government officially saying that this is the most important economic component. The word "first" is very important, because it shows the change in the way private enterprises are positioned as a key development driving force of the national economy" - Mr. Thang emphasized.
He said that to make the private economic sector truly develop, it is impossible to only rely on a few single policies, but must create a complete ecosystem - like "raising a child, cannot just feed him or just teach him, but needs an entire living environment and comprehensive nurturing to mature".
In that ecosystem, the first factor mentioned by the General Director of Hoa Phat is the domestic market - which directly determines the survival of many businesses. According to Mr. Thang, the Government needs to ensure healthy competition, and at the same time, if it is determined to develop large enterprises, there needs to be appropriate protection policies.
"We can't force a new kid to play with an adult. If we want to have domestic corporations of sufficient stature, we must first help them grow. Protection does not mean giving or giving too much preference, but creates fair conditions, competitive enough" - he said.
Next are macro-finance policies such as interest rates, exchange rates, credit programs aimed at production, along with orientations for developing key industries and fields, so that businesses can plan long-term strategies.
Citing Hoa Phat Group's growth strategy in the coming time, Mr. Thang said that the 15% growth plan is not a "happy" number but is based on solid foundations.
According to Mr. Thang, although Hoa Phat has expanded to fields such as agriculture, electromechanical production, and industrial real estate, the steel industry is still a pillar that accounts for about 80% of total activities. Therefore, the growth strategy in the coming time is still mainly based on domestic demand for steel, especially when the economy still has a lot of room for infrastructure development.
General Director Hoa Phat believes that the spirit of Vietnamese enterprises is always not afraid of difficulties and hardships. However, to develop sustainably, each enterprise must be aware of its responsibility not only to profits but also to the country.
"We need a truly mature and competitive private business community. That is the reason I expect Resolution 68 to not only be an orientation, but will be transformed into a concrete action - helping the private economy truly become the "backbone" of the Vietnamese economy" - Mr. Thang said.
