Mr. Nguyen Xuan Linh (66 years old, residing in Le Loi village, Ky Xuan commune) - said that he used to work very hard at sea, having to stay up late and wake up early, but his income was unstable.
As an adult, his health gradually declined, and he could no longer go to sea, more than 10 years ago, Mr. Linh switched to goat raising in the form of both free and locked up.
Thanks to the herd of goats with a scale of 40 to more than 50 goats/year, each year Mr. Linh's family earns more than 50 million VND.
According to Mr. Linh, the family's income from raising goats is not high but stable, but raising goats is more free and healthy than raising buffaloes and cows because the goats eat less, mainly eating leaves when grazing in the wild.
Similarly, the family of Ms. Nguyen Thi Lan (51 years old, residing in Xuan Thang village, Ky Xuan commune) is also a goat farming household with a good income.
According to Ms. Lan, her husband, Mr. Tran Van Luc (born in 2019), used to fish for seafood and diving.
From about 2010 to now, Mr. Luc has quit his seafood job, the couple went to Le Loi village, Ky Xuan commune, next to the beach to open a seafood shop combined with raising mountain goats.
At first, fearing that raising goats in a coastal commune would not be suitable, Ms. Lan's family only bought 10 breeding goats for trial farming.
Over time, seeing the goats grow and develop well, the family decided to expand the scale. Currently, Ms. Lan's family raises a herd of more than 60 goats, earning an average of 100 million VND per year.

"Mountain ducks are easy to raise, rarely affected by epidemics, take little care, and have a rich and diverse food source, mostly outside the mountains and hills when grazing. The herd has good breeding ability so it breeds on its own, increases the flock quickly, the market consumption is stable, so the income is quite good," Ms. Lan shared.
According to local leaders, in Ky Xuan commune, it is estimated that there are more than 30 households raising goats, with an average of about 50 goats/household/year.
Goat farming is suitable for older households, when it provides a small but stable income, at an average of about 50 - 70 million VND/household/year.
