Tet flowers in full bloom
The Tet atmosphere is filling all the streets in Can Tho City and the flower and ornamental plant markets are an indispensable highlight. This year's Tet flower market is considered by people to have more diversity in terms of species.
Walking around the city center, Ms. Tran Le Thuy Anh (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) could not help but be overwhelmed by the brilliance of Tet flowers. In addition to familiar flowers such as apricot, marigold, chrysanthemum, etc., Ms. Thuy Anh also saw traders and gardeners transporting peach and grapefruit from the North to sell, bringing many choices for people.
“Flowers and ornamental plants come in all price ranges, from affordable to high-end, making them easily accessible to consumers. I find that the price of flowers this year is appropriate for the quality. The flowers are transported and preserved well, so when they arrive in the city, they are still fresh and have long-lasting colors,” Ms. Thuy Anh shared.
Mr. Ha Hoang Thai (Ninh Kieu District, Can Tho City) said that Tet flowers and ornamental plants are now more diverse than last year in terms of design, quality and price. From traditional yellow apricot flowers to new types of flowers such as phalaenopsis orchids and Korean chrysanthemums, all are in full bloom.
“Along with the familiar marigold flower, I will buy some more chrysanthemums to decorate my house because their colors are quite eye-catching. Through price comparison, I see that this year's Tet flowers are relatively affordable, chrysanthemums range from 250,000 - 600,000 VND/pair,” said Mr. Thai.
Bustling shopping atmosphere
Compared to when people first started going to the streets, the atmosphere of flower and ornamental plant shopping is much more lively now that people are on Tet holiday. Accordingly, many people choose to go shopping in the evening because of the cool weather.
Although he started seeing flowers and ornamental plants for Tet on sale from mid-December, Mr. Thai only started shopping during Tet holiday because he thought it was more convenient in terms of time.
“Seeing flowers on the street early, I was quite excited but due to the nature of my work, I haven’t been able to go shopping yet. Just after Tet holiday, I had plenty of time, so I took the opportunity to visit many markets, compare prices and buy satisfactory flower baskets to decorate my house,” said Mr. Thai.
Ms. Thuy Anh also believes that buying flowers and ornamental plants during the Tet holiday helps her to be more comfortable with her time as well as consider her family's spending. Accordingly, with her free time during the first days of Tet holiday, she has chosen for herself beautiful and affordable flower designs.
“When the flowers and ornamental plants were first put on sale, I couldn’t spend a lot of money because I didn’t know how much my Tet bonus would be. But now, I’ve just had a Tet holiday and received my bonus, so I can be more relaxed. For me, buying flowers, in addition to being beautiful, needs to be priced appropriately for the quality and within my family’s budget because there are many expenses during Tet,” Thuy Anh said.
