According to the reporter, on the days approaching Lunar New Year 2025, along National Highway 6, in Long Luong commune, Van Ho district, the Tet atmosphere was very bustling, with the bright pink peach blossoms mixed with the pure white plum blossoms, and the calls from sellers and buyers were bustling throughout the area.
Mr. Sung A Phuong (24 years old) in Van Ho district said: "My family grows nearly 200 peach trees. Learning from previous years' experience, I and other people in the commune do not cut down peach branches to sell, but choose peach branches with beautiful shapes and many buds to cut."
According to Mr. Phuong, since the 7th day of the Hmong New Year, he has brought more than 100 peach branches and nearly 130 peach trees to the street to sell to traders and peach players. Up to now, his income has been more than 30 million VND.
With many years of experience growing and selling peach blossoms for Tet, Ms. Mua Thi Sinh (48 years old) said that this year, because Tet came early, the peach blossoms bloomed late. However, sophisticated customers usually buy before the 21st of the 12th lunar month, while ordinary customers buy around the 25th of Tet.
According to a survey by PV, the price of peach blossoms for Tet ranges from 400,000 VND to several million VND per branch, depending on the shape, number of buds and type of peach. Many peach growers also sell whole trees for several million VND, with some long-standing, beautiful trees costing more than 20 million VND.
Each peach branch, after being bought and sold, is bundled and neatly loaded onto the truck. On both sides of the road, motorbikes and trucks carrying peaches are parked closely together.
Ms. Nguyen Minh Hoa (30 years old, a buyer from Hai Duong) said that the lowlands are very fond of peach varieties from Long Luong, among which, Lao peaches are the most expensive, because they have big flowers, thick branches and lots of moss clinging to the tree trunk.
"Every year, when I go to Moc Chau, I buy a peach tree to display for Tet," Ms. Hoa informed.
Talking to reporters, Mr. Thai Ba Sinh - Head of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development of Van Ho district said: "Currently, Long Luong commune has the largest peach growing area in Van Ho district with 255 hectares. Peach trees have strong vitality, adapting to this land because of the low temperature and high humidity".
According to Mr. Sinh, peach trees are one of the main crops of Long Luong commune. People plant them year after year, ensuring that they have peaches to sell every year. Many households have escaped poverty thanks to peach trees.
