E10 biofuel is being considered a solution contributing to reducing emissions and promoting the use of environmentally friendly fuels in Vietnam. According to technical experts, most vehicles currently in circulation can use this type of fuel, while older models only need periodic inspection and maintenance to operate stably.
E10 is a blend of 90% mineral gasoline and 10% bioethanol. This fuel has been used by many countries for many years to reduce emissions and limit dependence on fossil fuels. In Vietnam, expanding the use of biofuel is part of the roadmap for developing clean energy and reducing carbon emissions.
According to information from the Ministry of Industry and Trade and key petroleum enterprises, E10 gasoline has the characteristic of burning cleaner than ordinary mineral gasoline, helping to reduce CO emissions and some environmental pollutants. Ethanol in fuel also has a high octane index, supporting the fuel burning process more effectively.
Engine experts say that most cars and motorcycles manufactured in the past 10 years have been designed to be compatible with fuel blended with ethanol such as E5 or E10. In particular, car lines using electronic fuel injection systems have the ability to automatically adjust carburetor ratios, helping the engine operate stably without structural changes.
For older vehicles, especially cars using carburetors, users are recommended to periodically check the fuel system such as pipes, rubber joints or tanks to ensure tightness and long-term operation. These are also items that need regular maintenance even when using traditional gasoline.
Some experts believe that the psychology of concern about E10 gasoline mainly stems from the fact that users do not have much complete information about biofuels. In fact, Vietnam has deployed E5 gasoline on a large scale for many years and has not recorded major problems related to the compatibility of engines with most popular vehicles.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Nguyen Trung Khanh - a technical staff at a garage in Ho Chi Minh City - advised users to maintain the habit of using the car regularly, avoiding letting fuel stagnate for too long in the tank. At the same time, changing fuel filters and checking the fuel supply system periodically will help the engine operate more durablely when switching to using biofuel.
In the context of the increasingly popular trend of using clean fuel, E10 gasoline is considered the next step in the energy transition roadmap in Vietnam. With preparation of technical standards, distribution infrastructure and appropriate use instructions, this type of fuel is expected to contribute to environmental protection while still meeting the operating needs of the majority of vehicles today.
