On September 3, information from the Department of Planning and Investment of Kon Tum province said that 5 projects stuck with forest land in the province include the project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 676 connecting Kon Plong district, Kon Tum province with Son Tay and Son Ha districts, Quang Ngai province (58.85 hectares of forest land);
Dak Ro Gia - Ia Tun Lake Cluster Project (0.75 ha of forest land); Road project from Dak Pne commune, Kon Ray district to Kbang district, Gia Lai province (13.8 ha of forest land);
Road project from Dak Glei town center to Xop commune center (39.96 hectares of forest land) and upgrading project of Dak Man - Dak Plo road, Dak Glei district (2.51 hectares of forest land).
According to the Department of Planning and Investment of Kon Tum province, the above forest area must be converted to other purposes to implement and speed up the project's progress, avoiding capital recovery.
Currently, Kon Tum province only has one project allowed to change the purpose of forest use, which is the road project from Dak Pne commune, Kon Ray district to Kbang district, Gia Lai province.
For this project, Kon Tum Provincial People's Committee approved the starting price for auctioning assets of salvaged natural forest timber (auctioning assets in the state of standing trees in the forest). The expected volume of timber exploited from 13.85 hectares of forest land is nearly 725 m3. The starting price for auctioning the timber is 850 million VND.
The Prime Minister has approved the project to renovate and upgrade Provincial Road 676 to change the purpose of forest use to another purpose.
The investor of the road is the Management Board of Investment Projects for Construction of Civil and Industrial Traffic Works of Kon Tum Province, which has fully fulfilled its obligation to pay for replacement forest planting. However, there has not yet been a decision to change the purpose of forest use for the project.
The Department of Planning and Investment requested the People's Committee of Kon Tum province to direct the review of documents and consider changing the project's forest use purpose according to regulations, in order to increase public investment disbursement and promote economic and social development...
At the 7th session of the 12th Kon Tum Provincial People's Council, Secretary of the Provincial Party Committee and Chairman of the Provincial People's Council Duong Van Trang signed and approved a Resolution (No. 57/NQ-HDND) identifying the need to clarify the responsibility of leaders who are "afraid of making mistakes and being afraid of responsibility" in implementing investment projects in the area.
Every year, the Project Management Board, investors, District and City People's Committees, etc. have comments and assessments on the heads of relevant agencies regarding the failure to complete compensation and site clearance work on schedule.
