For example, in 2024, the locality has drastically implemented solutions to implement key programs and projects. Since then, a number of projects have restarted, started construction and accelerated construction progress.
Typically, the My Thuy Port Project has constructed breakwaters, ports and essential items according to the plan, and by the end of 2025, two ports will be put into operation. The Quang Tri Industrial Park Project has completed phase 1 of site clearance and is completing leveling, centralized wastewater treatment system, and main traffic routes. The Quang Tri Airport Project is implementing construction of a number of essential items. One of the advantages that Quang Tri is focusing on exploiting is clean energy. Currently, the locality has many commercial renewable energy projects with a total investment of more than 27,000 billion VND. This place also has many favorable conditions to become the energy center of the Central region by connecting two power development regions, including: wind power in the West and thermal power, gas power, and solar power in the East.
Quang Tri is also the receiving point for natural gas from the Bao Vang mine, 100km from the mainland, and in the near future, the Ken Bau gas mine with the largest reserves ever, newly discovered only 80km from the mainland of Quang Tri, to develop gas-fired power projects, contributing to reducing emissions and negative impacts on the environment.
There has been development in infrastructure, facilitating development, but Mr. Ha Sy Dong acknowledged that many projects are behind schedule, have requested adjustments to investment policies many times, and even have to revoke investment policies. Urban infrastructure projects, industrial parks, and economic zones have not attracted many businesses to invest. The implementation of land use and social housing projects is still limited.
To realize the set goals, Quang Tri is focusing on realizing 3 development pillars, in which the energy industry is the key sector, creating breakthroughs; agriculture is the support, and services - tourism is the spearhead.
Localities mobilize and reasonably allocate resources, have drastic solutions to accelerate the disbursement of public investment capital from the beginning of 2025, especially key projects and national target programs, and speed up the implementation of key projects of the province.
Taking advantage of the support of the Central Government, Quang Tri is removing bottlenecks to exploit the East-West Economic Corridor, expanding development space to the West according to Resolution No. 26-NQ/TW of the Politburo, completing National Highway 15D connecting My Thuy seaport (Hai Lang district) to La Lay international border gate (Dakrong district); having an investment plan to build the Cam Lo - Lao Bao expressway. Researching and supplementing the development planning of wind power, solar power, offshore wind power and LNG power projects and receiving electricity from Laos.
