Recently, at the Forum "Developing a competitive energy market to 2030, with a vision to 2045", Mr. Le Anh Chien - Deputy Head of the Propaganda Department of the Party Committee of the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group - said that in order to realize the goals of the Vietnam National Energy Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2045, the Group has been focusing on exploiting and effectively using domestic energy resources in combination with reasonable energy import and export.
Along with that, the Group thoroughly practices saving and using energy efficiently; proactively produces a number of key equipment in the energy sub-sectors; upgrades and builds advanced and modern power transmission and distribution grids to firmly ensure national energy security; provides stable, high-quality energy at reasonable prices, and at the same time conducts energy conversion,
To exploit and use resources effectively and responsibly, during its operations and development, Petrovietnam always strictly complies with Vietnam's environmental protection laws and international conventions that Vietnam participates in, while constantly improving technology and updating new technologies to help minimize emissions to the environment and minimize unwanted risks.
Petrovietnam and its member units always ensure to implement environmental protection measures in accordance with current laws on safety, health and environment.
The Group focuses on strict waste management, treatment and recycling of solid, liquid and gas waste; technology innovation, operation optimization, energy saving and renewable energy development, such as offshore wind power projects and the “LNG - Green Energy Journey” program to reduce greenhouse gas emissions; assessment and mitigation of environmental impacts from oil and gas exploitation activities, and biodiversity protection.
Petrovietnam focuses on developing plans to respond to climate change, reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase the use of renewable energy. On the social side, Petrovietnam focuses on caring for the lives and protecting the rights of workers, ensuring a safe working environment and good salary and bonus policies.
According to Mr. Le Anh Chien, in the coming time, along with the faster-than-expected energy transition and fluctuations in the global economy, Petrovietnam will face many challenges: Climate change, fluctuations in the energy market and increasing demands for environmental protection and sustainable development.
To implement the objectives of Vietnam's National Energy Development Strategy and the Vietnam Oil and Gas Industry Development Strategy to 2030, with a vision to 2050 according to Conclusion No. 76-KL/TW dated April 24, 2024 of the Politburo, Petrovietnam aims to develop into a leading Industry - Energy Group in the country and the region, with a core position and role in ensuring national energy security. This is specifically oriented in Petrovietnam's 5 main areas of operation.
In particular, in the field of oil and gas exploration and exploitation, Petrovietnam identifies the core areas of basic investigation, exploration, field development and oil and gas exploitation; promotes the application of new technology and digital transformation to improve exploration efficiency, take advantage of existing infrastructure to connect small and marginal fields, actively invest in effective exploitation of fields in the declining stage in both traditional basins.
The gas industry ensures a fundamental role and rapid development associated with a market mechanism under State management and regulation, gradually integrating into regional and international markets.
