Thousands of liters of fish sauce, contained in large plastic cans, were discovered by the Hanoi Market Management Department at a business establishment in Long Bien District.
According to information from the working group of Market Management Team No. 16 (Hanoi Market Management Department), the unit coordinated with Team 4 - Economic Police Department, Hanoi City Police and functional forces of Long Bien District to conduct an inspection of Doan Van Dong Business Household, at address No. 19199/8 Phu Vien Street, Group 1, Bo De Ward, Long Bien District.
At the time of inspection, the authorities discovered that the establishment was trading 2,620 liters of fish sauce, contained in 131 20-liter plastic cans. All of these fish sauce do not have any information about the place of production, no label, or unknown origin. The business owner also could not present invoices or documents proving the legality of the shipment.
According to initial verification, the total value of violating fish sauce was about 54.5 million VND, calculated according to the listed price at the time of inspection.
Based on the case file, on June 26, 2025, the Chairman of the Hanoi People's Committee issued a decision to administratively fine Doan Van Dong Business Household VND 50 million for the act of trading in food of unknown origin. At the same time, all violating shipments were forced to be destroyed according to the provisions of law.
This is one of the typical cases showing the need to strengthen inspection and strictly handle violations of food safety to protect the rights and health of consumers.
The Hanoi Market Management Department recommends that people should be vigilant and choose to buy at reputable establishments with clear origins, especially with essential items such as fish sauce - a product associated with the daily meals of every family.
