The Department of Finance of Quang Ninh province received a report from a Hanoi-based unit on the appraisal of the Project Document to receive aid from the UnASDG Sustainable Development Investment Fund to support Ha Long City and Cam Pha City, Quang Ninh Province to develop according to the SDG (Environment, Society, Governance) criteria of the United Nations.
Accordingly, the above fund will support Quang Ninh with 500 million USD to implement 8 projects in Ha Long and Cam Pha.
The goal of sponsoring this amount of money is to contribute to improving the ability to exploit and process aquatic products, improve the infrastructure of fishing ports; optimize logistics activities and improve working conditions for fishermen; reduce water pollution and protect public health through an effective wastewater treatment system; sustainably manage and treat solid waste, minimize environmental impact; develop tourism combined with conservation; plant forests...
To have a basis for reporting, it is recommended that the People's Committee of Quang Ninh province consider and approve a project using non-refundable aid that is not eligible for official development support from foreign agencies, organizations and individuals for Vietnam according to the provisions of Decree No. 80/2020/ND-CP dated July 8, 2020 of the Government, the Department of Finance of Quang Ninh province reported and respectfully requested the Ministry of Finance to guide the process and procedures for receiving and implementing to ensure current legal regulations.
Previously, within the framework of the cooperation plan, UnASDG sent a special ambassador and a team of experts to Vietnam to conduct a field survey, work with the Quang Ninh government on the fields of waste management, wastewater treatment, port development, education and forest restoration.
Based on the assessment, 8 key projects will be implemented, including: 2 fishing ports in Cam Pha and Ha Long; Wastewater collection and treatment project in Cam Pha; 2 solid waste treatment complexes in Ha Long and Cam Pha; Yen Tu International Zoning Village project in Thuong Yen Cong commune, Uong Bi city; Project to plant large timber forests and medicinal plants under forest canopy in Ky Thuong commune and Project to plant large timber forests and medicinal plants under forest canopy in Dong Lam commune, Ha Long city. All projects meet SDG (Environmental, Social, Governance) standards and will be implemented as soon as capital is disbursed.
