Ngoc Linh ginseng is considered a precious medicine of ethnic minorities in the Central Central region of Vietnam, especially the Xe Dang ethnic group - used as a medicine in traditional remedies to stop bleeding, heal wounds, as a tonic, treat malaria and stomachache.
In 1973, at an altitude of 1,800 meters above sea level, scientists discovered a large ginseng area in the west of Ngoc Linh mountain in the territory of Kon Tum and Quang Nam provinces. This place was identified as the homeland of a new, especially rare ginseng plant that has never appeared anywhere else in the world.
