On September 16, Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Anh Quan received a delegation from the Singapore Embassy in Vietnam and officials from the Singapore Government and the Brunei Ministry of Foreign Affairs, led by Singapore's Deputy Ambassador to Vietnam Donald Tsang, to visit and work in Hai Phong.
Permanent Vice Chairman of Hai Phong City People's Committee Le Anh Quan informed about the basic features of Hai Phong's socio-economic development achievements, advantages of geographical location, transportation system and open administrative procedures, contributing to creating an attractive investment environment, promoting Hai Phong's rapid and sustainable development.
Accordingly, the city currently has more than 1,700 foreign investment projects from more than 40 countries and territories, with a total registered capital of more than 50 billion USD. In the first 8 months of 2025 alone, the city attracted 1.9 billion USD. Hai Phong has been approved by the Government to establish a coastal economic zone in the South of Hai Phong with an area of about 20,000 hectares. This is a coastal economic zone that follows a model of green growth, circular economy, sustainable development, including a free trade zone with breakthrough and outstanding mechanisms and policies.

Permanent Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee Le Anh Quan expressed his delight at the comprehensive strategic partnership between Vietnam and Singapore that is increasingly in-depth and creates practical benefits for people and businesses of the two countries, and emphasized that, with many similarities, in recent times, cooperation between Hai Phong and Singapore's partners has achieved many important results. As of September 2025, Singapore has 1,434 projects in Hai Phong with a total investment capital of nearly 11 billion USD, ranking 2nd in terms of capital among countries and territories investing in Hai Phong. These projects have made many positive contributions to the overall development of the city.
The Standing Vice Chairman of the City People's Committee hopes that after the visit and work, the delegation will have more valuable experiences, better understanding of development potential as well as cooperation opportunities in Hai Phong, thereby promoting strong cooperation between the two sides, contributing to fostering friendship and common development in the future.
Deputy Ambassador of Singapore to Vietnam Donald Tsang thanked the city for its hospitality, and said that with its many potentials and advantages, Hai Phong is a safe and effective investment destination for foreign investors, including investors from Singapore. In the coming time, Singapore will continue to strengthen investment cooperation in Vietnam in general and Hai Phong in particular. In the strategy of expanding the VSIP industrial park network in many provinces and cities of Vietnam, VSIP Hai Phong Industrial Park will be the center.
The Deputy Ambassador expressed his confidence that in the coming time, Hai Phong will have more Singaporean businesses and partners coming to seek opportunities and expand investment in the city to further promote cooperation between the two sides.
