After Thanh Thuy, middle blocker Tran Thi Bich Thuy (Duc Giang Chemicals) has the opportunity to compete abroad. The female athlete born in 1997 moved to the GS Caltex Seoul Kixx club jersey at the Korean national championship.
January 7 marked a new milestone in Bich Thuy's career when she had her debut match and contributed to GS Caltex Seoul Kixx's dramatic victory with a score of 3-2. This result also helped coach Lee Young-taek and his team end a streak of 14 consecutive losses before that.
Notably, Bich Thuy was on the field from the start. Although most of the Vietnamese athletes played in the lower row, they still knew how to leave their mark with their round-the-shoulder performance and scored 5 points (2 attack points, 1 blocker point, 2 serve points), especially the very neat smashes in position 3.
In the match against Hwaseong IBK Altos - a team in the top 4, Bich Thuy and her teammates caused a surprise when they easily won 3-0 against their opponent. In which, she contributed 8 points along with a series of effective blocks.
According to statistics from the tournament organizing committee after the match, the Vietnamese middle blocker led the tournament in the quick scoring index between the net with 9 points after 17 efforts, achieving an efficiency of 52.94%. In addition, Bich Thuy is also leading the value-based blocking metric ( valid block) with 15 times.
Most recently, GS Caltex Seoul Kixx club defeated Hyundai E&C with a score of 3-2. In this match, Tran Thi Bich Thuy scored 7 points and achieved an efficiency of 42.9%.
The head coach of the Korean team once praised Bich Thuy: "She is tall, has good jumping power and is gradually integrating with the team after a period of getting acquainted. In particular, Thuy promoted her ability to block the ball well.
When the blocking system works well, athletes defending in the back will have an easier time defending as well as being more convenient to deploy attacks".
In Korea, Bich Thuy is also sought after by many fans. In videos shared on social networks, after the Vietnamese middle blocker had finished practicing or competing, there was always a large group of fans waiting to interact, ask about her health and praise her performance.
This is also a motivation for Tran Thi Bich Thuy to continue to strive and compete better in the coming time, before returning to Vietnam to compete in the 2025 National Volleyball Championship.
