Forbes real-time asset data updated at 8:15 am on September 7 (Vietnam time) shows that the total assets of the 5 richest billionaires in Japan reached about 168.1 billion USD, a sharp increase compared to the 158.9 billion USD recorded at 0:15 am on August 31.
After more than a week, the group's total assets increased by about 9.2 billion USD. The main driving force came from the sudden increase of SoftBank founder Masayoshi Son, when his assets increased by more than 9 billion USD.
In the latest ranking, Masayoshi Son continues to hold the position of Japan's richest person, far ahead of the second-placed Tadashi Yanai and his family - the owner of the Uniqlo brand.
Masayoshi Son increases distance with Uniqlo owner
According to Forbes, Masayoshi Son currently owns a net worth of about 71.5 billion USD, ranking 29th in the list of the richest people in the world.
Compared to the level of 62.1 billion USD at 0:15 on August 31, Mr. Son's assets increased by about 9.4 billion USD.
This sharp increase significantly widened the gap between Masayoshi Son and Tadashi Yanai. Previously, the two billionaires once closely followed each other in the Japan's richest race, with a difference of only a few hundred million USD.
Masayoshi Son is the founder and CEO of SoftBank Group. Most of his assets come from shares in SoftBank and technology investments through the Vision Fund. SoftBank's stock price fluctuations have a major impact on his asset value.
Assets of Uniqlo owner increase slightly
Second in the list is Tadashi Yanai and his family, with a net worth of about 62.1 billion USD.
Compared to 61.5 billion USD in the previous update, Mr. Yanai's assets increased by about 600 million USD.
However, this increase is not enough to help the founder of Fast Retailing maintain its leading position in Japan. The gap between Mr. Yanai and Masayoshi Son has now reached about 9.4 billion USD.
Tadashi Yanai is the founder of Fast Retailing - a fashion retail group owning the Uniqlo brand. The stock value of Fast Retailing is an important factor affecting his and his family's assets.
Keyence founder reduces assets
In third place is Takemitsu Takizaki, founder of Keyence, with assets of about 23.8 billion USD.
Compared to 24.5 billion USD on August 31, his assets decreased by about 700 million USD.
Keyence is a famous Japanese enterprise in the field of sensors, measuring equipment and factory automation. Shares in this company account for the majority of Mr. Takizaki's assets.
Two bottom billionaires slightly fluctuate
Fourth in the list is Yasumitsu Shigeta, Chairman of Hikari Tsushin, with assets of about 6.3 billion USD.
Compared to the previous level of 6.4 billion USD, his assets decreased by about 100 million USD.
Hikari Tsushin operates in the field of telecommunications, equipment distribution and related services in Japan.
Closing the list of the 5 richest billionaires in Japan is Takao Yasuda, founder of the Don Quijote retail chain, with assets of about 4.4 billion USD. Compared to the previous update, his assets are almost unchanged.
The assets of billionaires are estimated in real time, affected by fluctuations in stock prices, exchange rates and portfolio values. Therefore, rankings in the ranking can also change at different market times.
