From early morning on September 7, the number of vehicles on many roads in Ho Chi Minh City increased significantly when parents took their children to school, students to class and people went to work at the same time, especially during the time frame from about 6:30 am to 8:00 am.
On routes such as Nguyen Thi Minh Khai, Dien Bien Phu, Tung Thien Vuong, Hong Bang..., the number of vehicles increased sharply during peak hours. Motorbikes and cars of parents taking their children to school along with the flow of vehicles going to work make many routes more crowded than usual.
In the area in front of the school gate, the situation of parents stopping their cars to drop off their children caused the traffic flow behind to slow down. At some intersections near schools, cars at times gathered and moved slowly through the area.
Mr. Hoang Cong Quoc (Binh Dong ward) said that in previous years he had many times encountered crowded roads when students returned to school, so this year he proactively adjusted his work hours.
Normally I go to work at the old time, but in the early days of the school year, it is usually much more crowded. This year, I learned from experience, going about 15 minutes earlier. However, this morning the roads are still crowded, the travel time is longer than usual," Mr. Quoc shared.
According to Mr. Quoc, when parents take their children to school at the same time as people go to work, the number of vehicles on the road increases rapidly. If a traffic point is slow, the traffic flow behind is also easily congested, leading to congestion.
Similarly, Ms. Nguyen Thi Hang (Binh Hung commune) said that she fell into the situation of being late for work because she did not know the school schedule of students.
At the end of August, when students went to school, but I didn't understand, so I still went to work as usual, when I reached the road near the school, the bus was crowded, moving very slowly, and then I was late for work. After that, I learned from experience. Today, knowing that students are going back to school, I went earlier," Ms. Hang said.
According to Ms. Hang, in addition to the increased number of vehicles, parents stopping their cars in front of school gates to pick up and drop off their children may also cause traffic congestion in this area for a short time.
Not only workers, parents also have to change their lives when the new school year begins.
Ms. Nguyen Lan Ngoc (Binh Dong ward) said that since her two children returned to school, the family's morning has started earlier. Not only does she have to wake up early to prepare for work, but she also has to wake up early to prepare belongings, breakfast and take her two children to school.
The two babies are not used to the time, so they have to be called up many times in the morning. Everything takes more time. I have to prepare from the previous night so that I am not flustered the next morning," Ms. Ngoc shared.
