At about 2:20 am on September 7, Van Ban Commune Police, Lao Cai province received a report from forces participating in protecting security and order at the grassroots level of Nam Co village about the discovery of a motorcyclist falling into a ravine and being injured at Km6+00 Provincial Road 162, the section in the direction from Van Ban to Bao Thang.
Immediately after receiving the information, Van Ban Commune Police urgently deployed forces to the scene.
At this time, it started to rain, the road surface was slippery, while the accident area had deep abyss terrain, making it difficult to approach the victims.
After many efforts, the police force coordinated with people to locate, approach and bring the victim out of the abyss. The injured were also urgently transferred to medical facilities for emergency treatment.

The victim was identified as Mr. Ly Thanh Ngoc (born 2003, residing in Ban Ma village, Van Ban commune).
According to initial verification, at about 10 pm on September 6, Mr. Ngoc was driving a motorbike with license plate 24AB-031.19 on Provincial Road 162 in the direction of Van Ban - Bao Thang.
When arriving at Km6+00, due to darkness, the road had a curve, and rain made the road surface slippery, Mr. Ngoc lost control of the steering wheel and fell into the abyss on his own.
After being taken to a medical facility, Mr. Ngoc was diagnosed with a broken right arm and a broken left femur. Currently, the victim's health has stabilized, not life-threatening.
