Speaking at the opening of the Forum "Using energy economically and efficiently: Results and goals in the era of growth" held on June 26, Director of the Department of Innovation, Green Transformation and Industrial Promotion (Ministry of Industry and Trade) Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang - emphasized - limiting traditional energy sources, developing new, clean green energy along with promoting the use of energy economically and efficiently is an important and urgent pillar.

"Economic and efficient use of energy is not only the responsibility of the electricity industry or state management agencies, but also a common task of the whole society, from each family, each enterprise to organizations and communities" - Ms. Nguyen Thi Lam Giang emphasized.
At the forum, Mr. Vo Quang Lam - Deputy General Director of Vietnam Electricity Group said that in the context of the economy setting a GDP growth target of 8%, Vietnam Electricity Group (EVN) has been implementing many synchronous solutions to ensure safe and stable electricity supply for socio-economic development and people's lives. Therefore, EVN continues to promote construction investment in 2025.
Despite many positive results, EVN is still facing major challenges in ensuring long-term power supply. EVN's share of power ownership currently accounts for only about 36.5% of the total capacity of the entire system, this trend is expected to continue to decrease in the coming period according to the adjusted Power Plan VIII. In addition, infrastructure for importing fuels such as coal and LNG remains limited, while Vietnam has switched from an example to an energy importer since 2016 and import demand will continue to increase in the coming years.
Faced with pressure on supply, EVN leaders said that saving electricity is one of the key solutions to ensure safe, regular and continuous power supply for the entire system. In 2024, the total energy-saving electricity output will reach 6,506 million kWh, equivalent to 2.46% of commercial electricity output.

Power saving programs have been widely deployed nationwide with more than 9.9 million people being advised on safe and efficient use of electricity. Communication campaigns, programs "Family saves energy", "Scurrying electricity in schools", "Scurrying electricity in offices" ... have created a positive effect in the community.
EVN leaders further informed that in the 2025-2030 period, EVN aims to reduce the electricity ratio for transmission and distribution of the entire power grid system to below 6%; reduce peak load capacity through the power demand management program (DSM/DR) to a minimum of 1,500MW. At the same time, EVN will closely coordinate with media agencies, newspapers, and socio-political organizations from the central to local levels to promote propaganda and consultation on customers for safe, economical and efficient electricity use.
EVN is also stepping up consulting and supporting customers to install self- propelled rooftop solar power and implementing direct power purchase and sale mechanisms according to new decrees of the Government. With these efforts, EVN is committed to continuing to accompany the country in the journey of sustainable development, ensuring national energy security.
