Deployed nationwide from July 1st, the Agricultural Product Traceability System of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has integrated data of more than 18,500 products from 200 businesses in 24/34 provinces and cities.
This is a shared digital platform for receiving, integrating, sharing and exploiting traceability data. The system ensures the principle of "one declaration, multiple uses", interconnected with the system of localities and businesses, without generating administrative procedures, export conditions or specific technology requirements. The system serves state management, traceability, ensures quality, food safety and meets domestic and export market requirements.
After nearly 2 months of implementation, many businesses and cooperatives assessed that the system helps to make production transparent, facilitate data management and increase customer confidence.
Talking to Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Dao Van Toan - Deputy Director of Hao Dat Tea Cooperative (Thai Nguyen) - said that after about 2 months of implementation, the Cooperative assessed that the origin traceability system is meaningful in making the entire production process transparent, from raw material areas, care, harvesting to processing and packaging. When information is stored on the system, businesses can better manage production data and customers have more basis to check the origin of products.
However, according to Mr. Toan, the biggest difficulty currently is that data entry is relatively large, while the cooperative's production activities take place regularly and have many stages. Many businesses propose simplifying data entry operations, increasing phone usage, interlinking with existing management software; and organizing regular training and technical support.
According to Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tho - Deputy Director of the Institute of Strategy and Policy on Agriculture and Environment (Ministry of Agriculture and Environment), in the coming time, the ministry as well as localities will continue to support farmers and businesses to carry out traceability activities. "In fact, traceability activities can be carried out simply, possibly just through a phone with information technology applications, connecting everything to bring accurate, sufficient, clean, shared data, interconnected with the central system" - Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Dinh Tho shared.
