On August 8, 2025, the Ministry of Finance will organize the Patriotic Emulation Congress of the Finance sector for the period 2026-2030, on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the Industry's Traditional Day. The event is an opportunity to summarize, honor and continue to arouse the widespread emulation movement in the whole industry.
Speaking at the opening of the Congress, Minister of Finance Nguyen Van Thang affirmed that throughout the process of construction and development, emulation and reward work has always played an important role in arousing the spirit of initiative and creativity, contributing to helping the industry successfully complete assigned political tasks.
In the 2021-2025 period, in the context of complicated international and domestic situations, the Finance sector still achieved many comprehensive results. The industry has proactively implemented patriotic emulation movements associated with professional tasks, contributing to controlling inflation, stabilizing the macro economy, and ensuring national financial safety.
According to the report at the Congress, in the past 5 years, total state budget revenue is estimated at 9.4 million billion VND, exceeding the set target (8.3 million billion VND); the average GDP growth rate reached about 6.3%, in the first 6 months of 2025 alone it reached 7.52%; the GDP scale in 2025 is estimated at over 510 billion USD, GDP per capita reached about 4,700 USD. Inflation remains at 3-4%/year, public debt is controlled at around 3738% of GDP, budget deficit is around 3.8% of GDP.
During this period, the Ministry of Finance has submitted and issued more than 700 legal documents, focusing on perfecting financial institutions and policies in accordance with the requirements of integration, digital transformation, innovation, improving the investment environment and supporting private economic development.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang assessed that emulation movements have been associated with the implementation of political tasks and the campaign "Studying and following Ho Chi Minh's ideology, morality and style", from which many useful initiatives and solutions have appeared, and good people and good deeds have been exempted in the whole industry.
The reward work is carried out seriously, to the right subjects, promptly, with special attention paid to direct employees and outstanding achievements. In 5 years, the industry has submitted to competent authorities to reward 88 collectives and 258 individuals at the State level; rewarded more than 2,300 collectives and more than 3,300 individuals according to its authority; rewarded 96 individuals for their contributions.
At the Congress, the Organizing Committee announced and awarded noble forms of commendation from the Party and State such as the Labor Medal, the Medal of Merit, the Emulation Flag of the Government, and the Certificate of Merit of the Prime Minister to outstanding collectives and individuals.
Promoting the 50-year tradition, towards a new period
This Congress is an opportunity for the entire Finance sector to continue promoting the 50-year tradition of building and maturing, replicating advanced models, and setting out patriotic emulation directions for the 2026-2030 period.
Minister Nguyen Van Thang emphasized that emulation is an important driving force contributing to the successful implementation of the country's socio-economic development tasks. He suggested that the entire industry overcome the remaining limitations, continue to innovate the content and form of emulation, ensure practicality and efficiency, associated with the political tasks of each unit.
The Minister requested that agencies and units in the industry need to thoroughly grasp President Ho Chi Minh's patriotic emulation ideology; promote the pioneering and exemplary role of cadres and party members; organize a thematic emulation movement, water rut emulation according to urgent tasks; conduct a preliminary review, summarize the movement and timely rewards.
In particular, the work of discovering, nurturing and replicating advanced models needs to be taken seriously, to spread the spirit of emulation throughout society. The Minister also proposed to continue to strengthen the organization of the emulation and reward work apparatus in the direction of streamlining, effectiveness and efficiency.
At the Congress, the Ministry of Finance officially launched the patriotic emulation movement for the 2026-2030 period with the slogan of action: "Promoting the tradition of solidarity, innovation, breakthrough, development, striving to successfully complete the political tasks for the 2026-2030 period, competing to build a sustainable, modern and integrated national financial system".
