The stock market entered today's trading session on June 30, continuing the state of tug-of-war and slight fluctuation of the VN-Index throughout the session with a high degree of differentiation on the electronic board. The main support for the market is still stocks related to the Vingroup group.
At the end of the June session, VN-Index increased by 5.04 points (+0.27%), to 1,860.01 points. On the HOSE exchange, there were 146 gainers and 148 losers.
Today is also the last session of Q2/2026 and the last day that funds finalize net asset value (NAV) for the quarter. However, there was no significant breakthrough in the ATC session. Total trading volume reached more than 692.7 million units, worth 19,383.3 billion VND, an increase of 39% in volume and 30% in value compared to yesterday's session. Block transactions contributed more than 192.6 million units, worth 5,848 billion VND.
Thus, in June, the VN-Index recorded a slight decrease of just over 3 points compared to May. And in the second quarter of 2026, the VN-Index increased by more than 185 points, equivalent to more than 11% from nearly 1,675 points at the end of March. And since the beginning of the year, the VN-Index has increased by more than 75 points, equivalent to +4.23% from nearly 1,785 points at the end of 2025.
Returning to today's session, the biggest contributor is VIC stock with more than 4.6 points for VN-Index, although this stock only increased by 1.3% to 220,000 VND. Vingroup stocks regained green color towards the end of the session, VIC, VHM, VRE all increased by 1% or more. The pulling force from these stocks brought VN-Index above the reference level.
The downside of today's session is essential consumer stocks, energy and information technology. With the energy group, mainly oil and gas, BSR, PVS, PVT, PLX, PVP, PPT... simultaneously showing red color in today's session. In the financial group, although green color prevailed, a part of bank stocks also showed less positive developments.
Regarding foreign capital flow, this group net sold nearly 1,200 billion VND in today's session. VPB was the focus with a net selling level of 340 billion VND. In addition, some large-cap codes such as FPT, VNM, HPG also suffered strong net selling of 186 - 195 billion VND.
Differentiation continues to be a prominent feature of the stock market in June. Vingroup and bank stocks alternately played a role in supporting the index, while most of the remaining industry groups adjusted and retested the balanced zone formed around the 1,800 point mark.
In general, the market is still in a recovery phase, but the trend has not really spread widely. The current bottleneck is still cautious demand, causing cash flow to mainly rotate between some leading stock groups, instead of forming a large enough consensus to create a sustainable upward trend.
VN-Index is expected to continue to fluctuate in the range of 1,850 - 1,900 points in the next few sessions before there is a more specific signal. Close support is the range of 1,850 points (MA50) and the Gap range around 1,810 points will be a stronger support area if adjustment pressure increases.
The recovery trend is still maintained, but to form a sustainable upward momentum, the market will need more accumulation time, improved cash flow as well as consensus from many leading industry groups, instead of relying on some large-cap stocks.
In that context, investors should still prioritize portfolio management for each stock, continue to hold positions to maintain positive trends and take advantage of fluctuations to restructure or selectively accumulate.
