Records at major markets such as Con market, Han market, Hoa Cuong wholesale market or supermarket systems in Da Nang show that from early morning to late at night, the number of shoppers increases sharply. Stalls of fresh food, cakes, jams, dried goods, spices, and Tet gifts are always crowded with customers.
At Con Market - one of the largest traditional markets in the city, small traders said that the number of customers has increased by about 30-50% compared to normal days. "People tend to shop early, each time they go to the market they buy many types of goods to use gradually. Compared to last year, there are more tourists, so the buying and selling atmosphere is also bustling" - Ms. Tran Thi Dao - owner of the confectionery stall - shared.
According to the Con Market Management Board, the whole market currently has about 1,800 small traders. During Tet, the management board strengthens price listing supervision, quality inspection of goods, food safety and fire prevention and fighting. Thanks to early preparation of goods sources, essential items such as pork, beef, vegetables and fruits did not experience scarcity, prices only slightly increased and remained within control. A similar atmosphere was also recorded at Cam Le, Nam Phuoc, Tra Kieu, Tam Ky markets...
In modern retail channels, purchasing power is also gradually "heating up" day by day. WinMart+, Co.opMart, MM Mega Market, Lotte Mart, Go!, JolliMart supermarket systems... have quickly put Tet goods on shelves in large quantities and diverse designs.
In addition to traditional goods, this year the market recorded many new products produced domestically and imported, meeting the diverse needs of consumers. Specialty fruits, shaped fruits, convenient packaged foods, spices and dried herbs are forecast to have slightly increased purchasing power during Tet.
Notably, Tet gift baskets are still the "center" at supermarkets. A new feature this year is regional specialties, OCOP products accounting for a large proportion in gift baskets. From Tay Nguyen macadamia nuts, Ha Giang Shan Tuyet tea, Ben Tre coconut jam to Nam O fish sauce, local fruit wine... are prioritized by consumers.
According to Ms. Le Thi Hien - Director of Son Tra Co.opMart, the trend of Tet gift baskets is being streamlined in quantity but increasing in perceived value. "Consumers are willing to spend from a few hundred thousand to more than one million VND for gift baskets, as long as the product is quality, clear origin, prioritizing Vietnamese goods" - Ms. Hien said.
According to the Da Nang City Department of Industry and Trade, large distribution enterprises have proactively increased inventory by about 10-15% compared to normal days. The total value of goods stockpiled to serve the 2026 Lunar New Year in the whole area is estimated at nearly 3,500 billion VND.
In addition, traders at about 240 markets in the city also participated in stockpiling goods worth more than 1,000 billion VND. Supermarket systems, convenience stores and residential area grocery stores contributed about 900 billion VND of stockpiled goods.
The industry and trade sector also implemented stabilization sales programs, bringing Vietnamese goods to mountainous areas, organizing market sessions to serve people in remote areas, contributing to balancing supply and demand, limiting local price increases. In particular, in the days leading up to Tet, more than 15 stabilization sales points were organized at markets and residential areas, focusing on livestock, poultry, and essential food items with publicly listed prices.
