Roads in Da Nang are behind schedule, causing traffic unsafety

For many years, hundreds of households on Doan Ket street (Hoi An Tay ward, Da Nang city) have had to live in mud and lurking accidents due to the unfinished project for many years.

Dusty sun and mud rain

DX 39 road (now Doan Ket street) in Hoi An Tay ward has long become a terrifying obsession for households living here. According to direct reflections from people, the serious degradation of infrastructure has lasted for decades but has not been completely resolved. At the scene, the road surface appears with dangerous deep holes that people call "potholes", turning into "traps" spread everywhere.

Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha, a resident living next to this road, shared: "I see that this road section from the rainy season to the sunny season always has water. There are times when children fall when going to school.

Not only stopping at difficult travel, people's lives are also constantly threatened.

Mr. Nguyen Tan Duoc, another long-time resident in this area, affirmed that the road has been abandoned for decades, leading to miserable scenes of "dusty sun, muddy rain". Mr. Duoc recalled: "This road has been flooded by rain for decades, and dusty by sunshine. We people are very upset, and have asked the authorities many times. I have also witnessed many accidents, there were also fatal accidents before, and recently my house has also been hit by several accidents.

People's lives are completely disrupted by rampant mud. Another resident also recounted that whenever there is something to do, people have to bring two pairs of shoes: One pair to wade through the mud through this road section, and then go to the main road to dare to change into clean shoes to continue walking. On sunny days, dust from the road surface and jagged stones fly into people's houses every time a truck passes by, making the living space suffocating.

Authorities commit to removing difficulties

According to the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay ward, DX 39 route (now Doan Ket street) was previously managed and implemented by the Hoi An area management board. However, during the implementation process, the project encountered major problems with site clearance. Prolonged site problems not only directly affected the project progress but also caused the previous winning bidder to request to terminate the contract. Currently, the old investor is organizing the selection of a new contractor unit to implement the remaining items of the project.

However, from the beginning of 2026, Da Nang will rearrange the management boards in the area and hand over the DX 39 road project to Hoi An Tay ward to directly implement investment. Hoi An Tay Ward People's Committee has also assigned the Public Service Service Center to be the investor. Currently, the Ward People's Committee is actively urging this unit to review and complete procedures in accordance with regulations to soon continue to implement the project and soon return the road surface to the people.

Especially during the upcoming Binh Ngo Lunar New Year 2026, the People's Committee of Hoi An Tay ward will temporarily handle the road surface in heavily damaged areas to serve the travel, shopping and entertainment needs of people during Tet days.
