According to Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, at 4:30 a.m., ships and boats docked at Cua Sot port (Thach Kim commune, Thach Ha district) to bring seafood ashore to traders.
Fisherman Tran Van Phuc (67 years old, residing in Loc Ha town) said that his boat has a capacity of 320CV, set sail on the 4th day of Tet, with 4 workers on board. After 2 days of fishing at sea, this morning the boat docked at the port, selling seafood for nearly 20 million VND.
“The weather was favorable for our first trip to sea in the new year, and we were very happy to have such a good catch. Hopefully, with such a lucky start to the new year, we will have a large catch this year, bringing in high income,” Mr. Phuc shared.
While transporting seafood from the boat to shore with his wife to sell to traders, fisherman Tran Van Thai (49 years old, residing in Thach Kim commune) shared that his boat has a capacity of 24CV, and he and his wife went out to sea together on the second day of Tet, fishing 25 nautical miles from shore.
After 4 days of fishing, now docked at the port selling mackerel, anchovy, and spotted fish for a total of about 10 million VND.
“At the beginning of the year, many other ships and boats have not gone out to sea yet, so we were able to sell our seafood at high prices, about 50% higher than usual, so we were very excited. According to the weather forecast, the monsoon is coming soon, so I am taking a break for now, otherwise I will continue to go out to sea on another trip,” said a Thai fisherman.
On shore, many traders have purchased large quantities of seafood including crabs, shrimp, herring, anchovies, mackerel, tuna...
Then, these traders resell to other traders who buy a few hundred kilograms each and carry them on their motorbikes, quickly dispersing them to sell at district and provincial markets to make a profit.
In addition, many locals also take advantage of the time to go to Cua Sot fishing port before dawn to buy fresh shrimp and fish at cheaper prices than buying them at the markets.
