In the context of increasingly complex climate change and natural resources gradually depleted, building a green, sustainable economy has become a top priority and cannot be delayed by many countries around the world, and Vietnam is no exception.
Speaking at the program "Promoting production - Sustainable consumption 2025" held on the evening of June 27, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan said that "sustainable consumption" is not only a slogan, but a lifestyle, a mindset that needs to be replicated.
According to Deputy Minister Nguyen Sinh Nhat Tan, consumer behavior is one of the strongest driving forces to promote sustainable development. When the demand for green products and environmentally friendly products increases, businesses will be forced to change to meet the market.
This creates a positive cycle: Consumers choose sustainable products, promote businesses to produce more sustainably, thereby bringing more sustainable products to consumers. And that is the key factor to create a "green era" together.
"Realizing the importance of a sustainable production and consumption chain, in recent years, the Ministry of Industry and Trade has strongly and synchronously implemented many solutions to promote green production and consumption, contributing to building a circular economy in Vietnam.
In which, focusing on key pillars, including: Completing the legal framework and policies; supporting businesses in digital transformation, green transformation; promoting the green product market, connecting supply - demand, building criteria and brands to make it easier for consumers to identify sustainable products. In particular, implementing many communication and community education campaigns to encourage each person to change their shopping habits and use products in a more responsible direction" - Deputy Minister Tan emphasized.
At the event, Dr. Ta Dinh Thi - Vice Chairman of the National Assembly's Committee on Science, Technology and Environment - said that climate change, resource depletion, and environmental pollution are urgent issues that require the joint efforts of the whole society. In that context, the "green era" is no longer a distant concept but has become a toiative goal, a development orientation for each country, each enterprise and each individual.

To make sustainable consumption truly a standard in society, a strong driving force to promote sustainable production, Dr. Ta Dinh Thi said that, First of all, ministries and branches continue to strongly and effectively implement preferential policies, encourage businesses to produce and trade sustainable products and services.
At the same time, strengthen inspection and supervision work, ensure transparency and accountability in the entire supply chain, thereby concretizing the policies and guidelines of the National Assembly.
According to Dr. Ta Dinh Thi, the business community must also constantly proactively innovate technology, research and develop green products and services, build a sustainable value chain, and minimize negative impacts on the environment in all stages of production and business.
" more importantly, I think that each citizen should become a smart and responsible consumer. Start with the smallest actions in your daily life: turn off the power when not in use, save water, classify waste, limit plastic bags, and prioritize choosing sustainable products and green products when consuming" - Dr. Ta Dinh Thi.
