Avoid carrying goods waiting for Tet
Although there is still about 1 month until Tet Nguyen Dan, the shopping atmosphere at traditional markets in Can Tho City such as Tan An, Xuan Khanh, O Mon... is still quite quiet. Faced with this situation, many small traders are in a state of both selling and listening.

At the fruit stall of small trader Nguyen Thi Hue Huong (Tan An market), the amount of goods displayed is only moderate. According to Ms. Huong, the reason why small traders are cautious is not only due to slow purchasing power but also due to competition from modern retail channels.
People now have more choices, from supermarkets to convenience stores and especially online shopping. Traditional markets no longer maintain a monopoly position, so we must be very cautious, mainly importing goods based on actual daily needs," Ms. Huong said.
Small trader Phuong Hong (Tan An market), shared that consumers' shopping habits have changed significantly, only buying enough to use and prioritizing fresh goods. Therefore, instead of investing a large amount of capital to stockpile, Ms. Hong chose the option of buying as much as possible.
Current supply is very readily available. If customer demand increases suddenly, I just need to text the wholesaler to adjust and supplement immediately on the same day. Doing so both ensures fresh goods and reduces losses, preserving profits," Ms. Hong said.

In department store goods, small trader Pham Thanh Phong (O Mon ward), said that although items such as soft drinks and confectionery have a longer shelf life, he does not dare to "embrace" too many goods. The import of goods only increases by about 15% compared to normal days to serve the needs of gifts and offerings, avoiding inventory after Tet.
Price stabilization, distribution expansion
According to the Can Tho City Department of Industry and Trade, currently, the system of supplying goods, food, and foodstuffs to people in the area is implemented through 255 markets, widely distributed throughout 103 wards and communes; 20 supermarkets (15/20 supermarkets sell general goods with fresh food); 290/325 convenience stores trading in fresh goods, food, vegetables and fruits.

To ensure the supply and demand of goods during Tet, the City Department of Industry and Trade has implemented the "Market stabilization program for essential goods, promoting trade activities in 2025, Lunar New Year 2026 in Can Tho City". The program has received registrations from 16 businesses (as of October 2025), with a total value of goods reserves of more than 4,108 billion VND.
Accordingly, the Industry and Trade sector has implemented many distribution measures such as organizing goods business at fixed sales points of enterprises; arranging and arranging business points for the Lunar New Year 2026 season; expanding the linkage chain from production, cultivation, animal husbandry to consumption to develop distribution networks.
The Department of Industry and Trade also mobilized businesses to develop plans to implement the program to bring Vietnamese goods to rural areas; price stabilization points near residential areas and industrial parks. At the same time, mobilized e-commerce supply units to jointly organize and implement many programs to promote online sales, link technology delivery services, quickly serve people's needs, and ensure disease prevention and control safety.
