On the afternoon of January 6, the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment held a regular press conference to inform about the production and business results in December and the whole year 2025.
Speaking at the press conference, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Environment affirmed that in 2025, the entire agricultural and environmental sector has made efforts to overcome many difficulties and challenges to achieve remarkable achievements. "In an extremely difficult context, we broke records with the export value of agricultural, forestry and fishery products reaching more than 70 billion USD, especially a trade surplus of about 20 billion, achieving and exceeding 9/9 assigned targets," Deputy Minister Phung Duc Tien informed.
In 2025, the world situation continues to be complicated, facing many difficulties and challenges. Increased trade tensions, along with higher requirements on traceability, food safety regulations in agricultural exports... affect economic growth and development. Natural disasters and extreme weather occurring on a large scale in the US, China, India... strongly impact commodity prices, world food security, increasing the prices of input materials for production and trade in agriculture, forestry, and fishery products. Domestically, natural disasters and extreme weather dien bien bat thuong, causing great damage to people, property and agricultural production situation.

In that context, the Ministry and the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment have closely followed the Party's guidelines and policies, the State's policies and laws and the requirements of practice; directing and operating "proactively, drastically, flexibly, synchronously, with focus and key points right from the first days and months of 2025". Thanks to that, crop production, animal husbandry, and aquaculture have maintained stability and continued to develop, ensuring the supply of essential food and foodstuffs (rice, fruit trees, meat, fresh milk, poultry eggs, aquaculture...) to meet domestic consumption needs, contributing to firmly ensuring national food security and promoting exports.
According to statistics, Vietnam's agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover in December 2025 is estimated at 6.21 billion USD, up 9.7% compared to the previous month and up 7.9% compared to the same period last year. Accumulated for the whole year 2025, total agricultural, forestry and fishery export turnover reached 70.09 billion USD, up 12% compared to the previous year.
At the press conference, information about the food supply situation for the 2026 Lunar New Year also received much attention. Mr. Pham Kim Dang (Deputy Director of the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine) affirmed that the food supply is sufficient to supply people during the 2026 Lunar New Year.
With a total live meat output of about 8.67 million tons, 1.3 million tons of milk and 21.4 billion eggs, up to now, it can be affirmed that the food supply is sufficient for the 2026 Lunar New Year," Mr. Pham Kim Dang shared.

The Deputy Director of the Department of Livestock and Veterinary Medicine also said that at the present time, the price of live pig meat has increased. This is also a development consistent with the annual cycle.
In 2026, difficulties and challenges continue to increase, especially the impact of climate change; resource degradation, environmental pollution and biodiversity degradation, directly affecting food security and people's livelihoods. In the context of increasingly comprehensive management requirements, the implementation of international commitments on emission reduction, green growth, nature conservation and conversion of low-emission agriculture models poses great pressure on resources and management capacity.
Faced with that requirement, the 2026 goal of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment is to strengthen resource management, environmental protection, improve climate change resilience; promote the effectiveness of land, water, forest and biodiversity resources to serve sustainable agricultural development and the country's socio-economy.
The entire industry strives for the total export turnover of agricultural, forestry and fishery products to reach 73 - 74 billion USD; of which, the group of agricultural products is about 40 billion USD (up 7.2%), seafood items is about 12 billion USD (up 7.6%), forest products and wooden furniture is about 18.8 billion USD (up 3.6%).
