On November 4, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City issued a document reporting to the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment the results of the implementation of combating illegal fishing without reporting and not in accordance with regulations (IUU).
According to the report, from the beginning of 2025 to now, there are no more fishing vessels violating the law in foreign waters in Ho Chi Minh City that the European Commission ( European Commission - EC) has included in the monitoring of yellow card removal.
Other violations of the law related to the use of fishing vessels in recent times have also been strictly handled by the authorities according to regulations.
According to statistics, from 2024 to present, the authorities have sanctioned 499 administrative violations in the fisheries sector. Of which, 184 vessels were administratively sanctioned for failure to comply with regulations when they lost connection to fishing vessels, crossed the permitted boundary at sea.
As of October 31, Ho Chi Minh City is managing a total of 4,638 fishing vessels (a decrease of 72 vessels compared to last week due to registration cancellation). Of which, 1,715 ships are 6-12 m long; 606 ships are 12-15 m long; and 2,317 ships are over 15 m long.
In the coming time, the Department of Agriculture and Environment of Ho Chi Minh City will continue to monitor fishing ports; monitor 24/7 fishing vessel journeys at sea ( focusing on vessels at high risk of violations); strictly inspect the entry and exit of ports, trace the origin of exploited aquatic products of fishing vessels in the area.
