According to a survey on April 22, on the peak day at the beginning of the holidays (April 25), a series of Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City routes were almost fully booked for economy class. Some airlines have no more tickets, others only have very limited seats left. Specifically, Vietjet Air on this route on April 25 has no empty seats left. Vietnam Airlines still has tickets but the number is less than 10 seats per flight, the price ranges from about 3.5 million VND per trip. Some other airlines are also in a similar situation, only scattered 1-2 seats with prices from 3.2 million VND per trip.
To meet the increasing travel demand, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam said that it has just adjusted the slot coordination parameter at Tan Son Nhat International Airport during the peak period from April 25 to May 5, 2026.
Accordingly, the exploitation frequency is increased from 44 trips per hour to 46 trips per hour during daytime from 6 am to 11 pm.
Director of the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam Uong Viet Dung said that the increase in slots is implemented in a flexible direction, optimizing actual operating capacity, limiting the situation of aircraft having to wait in the air, and prioritizing key routes.
This adjustment also contributes to reducing fuel consumption in the context of gasoline supply being affected by the international situation, while still ensuring safe operation and maintaining stable operation at the largest airport in the country.
From the airline's perspective, businesses also proactively increase supply capacity. Previously, Vietnam Airlines Group, including Vietnam Airlines, Pacific Airlines and Vasco, was expected to supply nearly 1.12 million seats during this peak season, an increase of 15.5% compared to the same period in 2025.
For the main routes between Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Da Nang, the number of seats increased by nearly 30% compared to normal. The Hanoi - Ho Chi Minh City route increased by about 12%. Tourist destinations such as Nha Trang and Phu Quoc increased by nearly 20% in number of flights, while routes to Hue and Quy Nhon increased by an average of more than 5%.
A representative of Vietnam Airlines said that the airline will continue to closely monitor market demand to operate flexibly, and at the same time recommend that passengers actively book tickets early to have more travel options.
