On February 12 local time, Deputy Prime Minister Bui Thanh Son spoke at two sessions on "Emerging economies" and "Actions towards Sustainable Development Goals" within the framework of the 2025 WGS Conference.
According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the challenging international context also opens up opportunities for developing countries, especially emerging economies, to take "jump Steps" to catch up, move forward and surpass the flow of the world. In that context, cooperation and connection are decisive for common prosperity.
The Deputy Prime Minister affirmed that Vietnam continues to be a safe and attractive destination for international investors. In 2024, Vietnam is among the 15 developing countries with the largest foreign investment attraction in the world, reaching about 40 billion USD, of which foreign direct investment (FDI) is about 25 billion USD. Vietnam is also one of the 20 economies with the largest trade scale in the world with 17 Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), ranked 44/132 in the global innovation index, becoming an important link in regional and global supply chains. Vietnam is in the process of strongly transforming to a digital economy, green economy, high technology and environmentally friendly; initially establishing a position in the global semiconductor industry chain, attracting large technology corporations.
To develop a breakthrough in the new era - the era of rising up for development, becoming strong, civilized, and prosperous, the Vietnamese Government continues to strongly innovate thinking, build and perfect synchronous institutions on economy, politics, culture, society, and environment; arouse all potential and resources, creating new momentum for rapid and sustainable development.
In every transformation process, Vietnam always takes people as the center, businesses as the pioneer force, and the government plays a role in guiding and creating. The Deputy Prime Minister expressed his hope that partners, businesses, investors in the UAE, the Middle East and the world will continue to accompany and support Vietnam. Vietnam is committed to being a strategic choice, a safe and attractive destination for businesses and investors to build long-term, effective and sustainable economic cooperation.
Sharing about Vietnam's experience and achievements in realizing sustainable development goals (SDGs), the Deputy Prime Minister said that in the context of the world witnessing intertwined changes of the times, opportunities and challenges, Vietnam has no choice but to think about sustainable and inclusive new development, innovation and creativity in governance and operation, an approach to action and breakthrough for sustainable development, a new partnership based on the foundation of international solidarity, promoting fairness, multilateralism and respect for international law.
