This is also the beginning of Viettel's biggest plan in 2025: installing more than 22,000 new 5G broadcasting stations nationwide. Mr. Do Ngoc Phuong, Director of the Technical Center of Region 1 of Viettel Network Corporation, said that nearly 1,000 temporary stations were recalled in 5 days, three times faster than the normal process.
These stations are all modern 5G devices that have just been imported in August 2025 - one of the first shipments for Viettel's plan to expand the 5G network. Accordingly, more than 22,000 5G stations will be installed, integrated and broadcast before December 31, cumulatively reaching 29,000 5G stations, marking Viettel's record-breaking infrastructure development campaign.

According to the plan, the number of newly installed stations in 2025 will be 3 times more when Viettel launches 5G service in October 2024 (6,500 stations) and double the total number of 5G stations of all network operators in Vietnam as of June 2025 (11,000 stations).
The network operator representative said that, compared to 4G, deploying each 5G station requires more technical items, must review and ensure transmission, equipment, electricity, antena columns... 5G SA stations (completely independent) require very high infrastructure requirements, so they are almost completely new to deploy. In other words, the development of the 5G network also " sang" Viettel's infrastructure at the same time. Depending on each location, the installation time of each 5G station can be 2 to 5 times more than deploying a 4G station. In terms of workload, this is Viettel's largest-scale campaign ever.

To solve the above workload, Viettel has focused maximum resources. Coordination, equipment allocation, installation and integration activities are implemented according to a tight schedule every hour. Daily inspection results to ensure accurate progress. In the context of inadequate ordered equipment, nearly 1,000 5G stations serving the National Day holiday have become the first completed stations in the year plan. Therefore, all are urgently recalled and prioritized for deployment at locations in Hanoi's inner city to save equipment transportation time.
"Increasing the 5G broadcasting station by more than 4 times (from 6,500 stations to 29,000 stations) helps Viettel affirm its No. 1 position in telecommunications infrastructure in Vietnam. When completed, Viettel's 5G network will cover up to 90% of Vietnam's population, instead of focusing only on central areas, industrial parks or airports as it is now," said a Viettel representative.
Viettel's 5G stations are capable of providing 10 times more speed than 4G technology, super low latency (10ms), and connection density of millions of devices/km2. 5G SA stations on the Viettel network allow the implementation of advanced features such as: frequency band connection to increase user speed, Network slicing, 5G IoT (Redcap). This paves the way for services that help positively change the customer experience on the 5G network such as high-speed gaming, good quality interactive content experience. For businesses, 5G network available everywhere will pave the way for smart factory solutions, smart transportation... from the laboratory to get closer to life, serving customers.
5G network also plays an important role in promoting comprehensive digital transformation in Vietnam, promoting the natural digital transformation process and opening up new values in the digital economy, developing a digital society. Viettel's 5G expansion is a step towards popularizing technology, contributing to the completion of national digital infrastructure, thereby opening up new business models, promoting creative cooperation and creating conditions for application developers to exploit the potential of digital infrastructure. The high-speed 5G network will be the foundation for innovative applications to explode, from online education, distance healthcare to smart cities and automated industrial production.
