These are 2 key projects among 250 projects started and inaugurated in 34 provinces and cities across the country, on the occasion of The 80th anniversary of the August Revolution and National Day on September 2.
Second House of 2,000 High-Quality Technology Employees
Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang - Chairman and General Director of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group (Viettel) said: Viettel has formed a high-tech industry with two spearheads: defense industry and telecommunications industry, mastering more than 40 product lines in 10 equipment and weapons industries.

Although it has invested in 6 research and production facilities, the current infrastructure still does not meet the increasingly urgent requirements, Viettel needs a large-scale center to accelerate the implementation of research on national strategic technologies assigned in the coming time. And this project is an important piece in the overall picture of Viettel's research and development infrastructure.
On a land area of 13.2 hectares, with a total investment of 10 trillion VND for construction alone, Viettel will deploy 6 buildings, deployed through 3 phases, and will fully converge all functions from research, to design, testing, and testing high-tech products both indoors and outdoors.
Viettel not only invests in infrastructure but also builds a complete R&D ecosystem: Attracting and promoting talent, cooperating with technology corporations, research institutes, universities at home and abroad, while creating an environment to encourage innovation. This will be the "second home" of 2,000 high-quality technology personnel of Viettel.
The center will serve the research and development of military and civilian products, dual-use activities to serve the high-tech industrial production research strategy and national defense and security tasks of the Military Industry - Telecommunications Group, according to the policies and orientations of the Party, State and Ministry of National Defense:
Research and development in the military and high-tech industries: mastering the technologies for manufacturing missiles, cruise engines, unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), reconnaissance satellites, Radar, ... to create military equipment products in accordance with the requirements of defending the Fatherland.
Research and development in the field of digital technology: research on the application of technologies in Big Data, artificial intelligence (AI), cloud computing, ... to develop devices, software, solutions, platforms, services to meet the actual needs of the market and in line with world technology trends.

Determining to master 9/11 national strategic technology
According to Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang, Viettel sets a pioneering goal of mastering national technology and strategic industries, promoting international cooperation; the main focus of research and production of advanced and modern weapons and technical equipment.

This goal is associated with the implementation of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Politburo on breakthroughs in science and technology development, innovation and national digital transformation. Viettel considers this the most important driving force to expand scale, promote the entire machine to act quickly and create early results.
Viettel has identified itself as mastering 9/11 national strategic technologies such as AI, semiconductors, Cloud, network security, 5G/6G, rover, aerospace, blockchain, new materials.
With such a large workload, the Group has been mobilizing all resources, urgently constructing many projects across the country.
The largest Data Center in the North will operate in the second quarter of 2026
In addition to the R&D Center, Viettel also built the An Khanh Data Center on an area of 1.9 hectares, with a total investment of VND17,500 billion, and a designed capacity of 60 MW - expected to become the largest data center in the North.
Phase 1 is expected to be operational from the second quarter of 2026 and will be upgraded to Viettel's second Hyperscale Data Center by 2030.
Committing to the fastest, best quality
"In Viettel's journey to master core technology, there is no room for hesitation or negotiation. Viettel has only one way: to the finish line at the fastest speed, the best quality and the highest sense of responsibility" - Lieutenant General Tao Duc Thang emphasized.
Viettel is committed to completing the project on schedule, expected to complete phase 1 in 2026 and all 3 phases by 2030.
Ensuring quality exceeds requirements, all items meet international standards and are suitable for the specific conditions of the defense industry.
Ensure safety throughout construction and operation, meeting strict requirements on security and risk prevention. Ensuring long-term effectiveness.
