On April 16, the Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial People's Committee requested departments, branches and localities to strengthen state management in the field of motor vehicle registration, after a particularly serious traffic accident occurred in the area.
According to Lam Dong Provincial Police, in the first quarter of 2026, the whole province recorded 196 traffic accidents, killing 117 people. Many cases were related to trucks, passenger cars and tractor trucks.

Notably, the accident on April 6 at Km16+300 DT715 road, Hoa Thang commune, when a 29-seater passenger car with license plate 86H-045.61 plunged into a ravine on the side of Bau Trang lake, killing 4 people and injuring 1 person.
This vehicle has been used for many years, and the inspection period is until April 23, 2026. The examination results showed that the internal structure of the vehicle was degraded and damaged, which was identified as one of the causes of the accident.

From the incident, provincial leaders warned of the danger of technical unsafety for vehicles used for many years, especially passenger and cargo business vehicles, when they are about to expire.
The Chairman of the Provincial People's Committee requested the Department of Construction to direct vehicle registration centers to strictly implement procedures, not to shorten stages, and not to intervene to falsify inspection results.

In particular, it is necessary to strictly control vehicles that have been used for many years, have short inspection cycles or are about to expire.
At the same time, the Department of Construction will not allow the situation of vehicle registration officers colluding and colluding with "bait", "protection", ignoring technical errors to issue technical safety inspection certificates for vehicles that do not meet conditions to occur.

The Provincial Police strictly handle cases of vehicles that have expired inspection, expired their lifespan or do not meet technical safety and environmental standards when participating in traffic.
At the same time, promptly detect, investigate, and handle violations in registration activities such as forging dossiers, colluding to ignore technical errors, and issuing certificates in violation of regulations.
