For people who regularly travel by motorbike, helmets are an indispensable item to ensure safety. However, according to hair stylist Jawed Habib (Chairman of Jawed Habib Hair & Beauty Ltd, India), using a helmet incorrectly can be one of the causes of common hair loss that few people pay attention to.
Mr. Habib emphasizes that sweat accumulated in the scalp when wearing a helmet for a long time can weaken the hair roots, which leads to hair loss.
In addition, removing and wearing a hat regularly also causes pulling on hair, making hair more prone to breakage. In particular, a helmet that is too tight or not the right size will continuously rub against the hair and scalp, causing damage to the hair follicles.
Mr. Habib shared some simple but effective tips to limit hair loss due to wearing a helmet:
- Wash your hair regularly to keep your hair and scalp clean and avoid accumulating sweat.
- Apply a conditioner before washing to increase moisture and nourish hair roots.
- Do not wear a hat when your hair is still wet, because moist hair is more likely to be weak and broken.
Using a thin cotton mask inside the helmet helps reduce direct friction between the helmet and hair.
- Regularly clean the helmet to remove dirt, bacteria and odor.
- Do not share a helmet with others to avoid infection with scalp diseases.
- Apply fresh aloe vera gel to the scalp once a week before rinsing to soothe and nourish the scalp.
Although wearing a helmet is mandatory and non-replaceable, you can completely take care of your hair properly to limit negative effects.
With just a few small changes in your routine, you can both protect your safety while driving and keep your hair healthy every day.
