Benefits
According to Dr. Kalyani Deshmukh, a dermatologist at Traya Aesthetic Center (India), grape seed oil brings many outstanding benefits to hair. Light texture and good absorbency make it easy to nourish from the soles to the ends of hair, especially suitable for dry, fried hair.
Grape seed oil contains linoleic acid, an essential fatty acid that can harden hair fibers, reduce breakage and split ends, and soothe dry, itchy scalp, supporting dandruff reduction.
Not only does grape seed oil nourish hair, it also promotes blood circulation when massaged on the scalp, thereby stimulating the growth of new hair. This is a big plus in the comprehensive hair care process, especially for those who want thick, healthy and shiny hair.
In terms of nutrition, expert Kanikka Malhotra ( certified in India) said that grape seed oil is rich in vitamin E, a powerful antioxidant that helps protect hair from environmental damage such as pollution and UV rays.
In addition, it also contains carotenoids, polyphenols and OPC (oligomeric proanthocyanidins), which help fight inflammation and improve scalp health.
Note
Although it has many benefits, grape seed oil is not the perfect choice for all hair types. For extremely dry or rough hair, the light texture of the oil may not be hydrating enough compared to heavy oils such as coconut or olive oil. In addition, oily scalp can become more shiny if used excessively or close to the hair roots. People with grape allergies should also be careful when using them.
In addition to hair conditioning, grape seed oil is also used as a mild skin conditioner, supporting moisturizing and soothing the skin. It can also be used for makeup thanks to its ability to dissolve makeup without causing irritation.
One point to note is that the quality of grape seed oil on the market may vary. Refrigerated, chemical-free oils like hexane are safer and more effective for hair and skin.
How to use grape seed oil
To maximize the benefits of grape seed oil, first, warm a small amount of the oil and gently massage it onto the scalp for 5-10 minutes to stimulate blood circulation, then apply it evenly from the feet to the ends of the hair.
Keep the oil on your hair for at least 30 minutes, or overnight if available, then rinse with a gentle shampoo.
You can also mix grape seed oil with other oils such as argan oil, coconut oil or rosemary essential oil to increase hair care efficiency. In addition, a few drops of grape seed oil can be used as a conditioner after shampooing to reduce frizz and increase shine.
Note to use a moderate amount, especially for oily scalp, and should try it first on a small area of skin to avoid irritation. Choose cold-pressed, pure grape seed oil to ensure safety and best results.
