At about 5:20 p.m. on May 19, 2025, on the urban railway line 2A Cat Linh - Ha Dong, there was a phenomenon of air conditioning water flowing into the passenger compartment in carriage No. 1 of train No. 01.
Initial inspection by Enterprise 2A, the cause of the incident was a failure of the train's air conditioning control system, causing unstable drainage, leading to water flowing down to the carriage floor. On May 20, 2025, the Enterprise coordinated with experts and technical staff to urgently fix the problem.
A representative of Hanoi Metro One Member Co., Ltd. (Hanoi Metro) said that to handle the same incident, the company has directed 2A Enterprise to continue to coordinate with technical experts to review the entire air conditioning control system on trains on route 2A. The goal is to ensure that when trains are put into operation, they meet the requirements of quality and technical safety.
In addition, Hanoi Metro is reporting and proposing the Hanoi People's Committee to allow the establishment of Trung Tu project to combine training technical human resources for the operation of Cat Linh - Ha Dong railway. The project aims to ensure technical safety, long -term environmental protection, and at the same time improve the quality of engineers, maintenance staff, ship repair and technical systems.
"The phenomenon of water flowing from the air conditioner causing inconvenience and unsanitary conditions for passengers is an rare, unwanted incident. We would like to acknowledge our mistake with the passengers and commit to fix it as soon as possible. Previously, Lao Dong Newspaper also reported the situation of some elevators at Cat Linh - Ha Dong stations stopping operating, causing difficulties for passengers during travel.
Regarding the incidents on the route, on May 20, 2025, speaking with a reporter from Lao Dong Newspaper, Mr. Khuat Viet Hung - Chairman of the Board of Members of Hanoi Metro - said that during the previous training process for the transfer of the Cat Linh - Ha Dong project, only focused on maintenance and repair work without training repair skills. Therefore, when there is a damaged incident, it is necessary to invite experts from outside.
Currently, Hanoi Metro is developing a Railway Maintenance Project, accordingly, it will invite experts to both directly implement and train the company's technical team to be able to proactively repair. This is a sustainable solution. It is also necessary to clearly identify that urban railway is a new field, no domestic unit has ever fully implemented the technical process. Therefore, the lesson learned is that investment projects that will later need training will transfer the entire process, from maintenance, repair to operation" - Mr. Hung emphasized.
