In history, Vietnamese athletics once won a Gold Medal at ASIAD 18 in 2018. Thus, Vietnamese athletics has a precedent for ASIAD Gold Medal achievements. The achievement is an encouragement for managers to understand that Vietnamese athletes seek the possibility of winning Gold Medals at the Asian Games.
However, we have not yet confirmed the next opportunity to win an ASIAD 20 medal in which event. Vietnamese athletics is the only high-performance sport (besides football) with a development project to 20230, orientation to 2045 that has been approved and started implementation. In which, the top goal is still to achieve the highest results at the ASIAD arena.
Overall, athletics is a basic sport that develops physical fitness from school to high-performance training. Athlete training managers (Vietnam Department of Physical Education and Sports) and the Vietnam Athletics Federation always prioritize finding young resources to create a premise for future development. But sports are achievements, if Vietnamese athletes (National Team level) do not win medals in major arenas, it means they are not successful.
Therefore, in each investment phase and now with the task of the 2030 Development Project, oriented to 2045, Vietnamese Athletics must return to efficiency.
