Archery is the turning point
Do Thi Anh Nguyet has won an official spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics (France). An important archer in the women's single-string archery event of the Vietnam Archery Team has a spot at the 2024 Paris Olympics (France). It couldn't be more surprising. after the World Archery Federation selected her at the last minute based on her ranking score to advance to the qualifying group. And so, Do Thi Anh Nguyet is on the list of 64 female archers in the individual single-string archery competition to go to France to compete.
Chatting with Anh Nguyet, the female archer of Hanoi sports, is an open person. However, to ensure her professional work, every time she prepares for an important tournament, she almost does not appear in front of the media because that is to keep herself mentally stable. In her story, Anh Nguyet said that qualifying for the 2024 Paris (France) Olympics was a surprise to her, but also reflected her efforts in competition and preparation through a process.
“When competing in tournaments, each archer has a different mentality. In order to control a stable heart rate, we all have to practice and make it more stable. When competing, to be more confident, I always tell myself the goal and the sentence is: "I have to do it, I have to be the best I can." When I came to archery, I changed a lot from this sport. Fighting teaches me many things. Help me have great perseverance. In life, when I am with the team, my brothers and sisters teach me how to behave well and develop together in a united team," Anh Nguyet expressed.
Looking at the journey of training and professional competition, Do Thi Anh Nguyet has nearly 7 years of experience with bow and arrow. She shared that archery looks simple, but when practicing, the person holding the bow must have smooth coordination of the body parts. Archers need high concentration and proper breathing technique. Lift a professional bow (weighing from 2kg to 5kg) and when pulling the bow, its weight has a force of up to 28kg to 45kg. Therefore, we have to prepare very carefully. A small girl who can lift a bow with such weight and then put the arrows in the bull's eye to score points shows an effort in Anh Nguyet's expertise.
When asked if given another choice, Anh Nguyet would choose archery to develop her career, the female archer smiled and said: "Of course, I would still choose archery!". Anh Nguyet has become a historic archer in Vietnamese sports, being the participant in two consecutive Olympics close together with an official berth (2020 Tokyo Japan Olympics and 2024 Paris France Olympics).
Love Son Tung M-TP's music
Anh Nguyet is a strong athlete on the training ground and in competition. In everyday life, this archer is a charming girl who attracts many people's attention. Interestingly, Anh Nguyet has never had a sports idol for herself, but she shared: "I don't have any sports idols. I idolize singer Son Tung M-TP and he is the person who inspires me in life and practice." With archery, or sports in particular, everything is never rosy because athletes like Anh Nguyet must practice, have competition and be ready to accept failure when they are not at their best. .
That's why, through each tournament, she herself said that she became more mature and when she heard the lyrics in the music of singer Son Tung M-TP, she was helped to have more balance and stabilize her spirit. God. Anh Nguyet still remembers that the tournament under the most pressure was the 31st SEA Games, which took place at home in 2022. At that time, archery was one of the key sports that the leaders of the Vietnamese Sports Delegation were waiting for to win medals. Yellow.
Unfortunately, through all the events, we did not win any Gold Medals. At that time, there were many question marks from the media and professional managers about the investment in the sport. Even so, the teachers and students of the Vietnam Archery Team remained calm to practice and compete hard to now win two spots to attend the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) according to the registration quota (athlete Do Thi Anh Nguyet , Le Quoc Phong).
History of the flag bearer
This year, Nguyet turns 25 (born in 2001). She came to sports by fate. In the summer of 2016, the basketball and volleyball coaches of the Hanoi Sports and Physical Training Center recruited talented athletes as usual and stopped at Lac Hong commune of the region. In Van Lam (Hung Yen), they saw a tall student girl capable of playing basketball. That is Do Thi Anh Nguyet. It took a long time of persuasion for the coach to get his family to agree to let Anh Nguyet go to Hanoi to practice basketball.
Anh Nguyet recalls: “Before getting into archery, I was a basketball player in Hanoi. After seven months of basketball, the coach switched me to archery, directing me to an individual sport because the coach felt I was more suitable for an individual sport than a team sport. When I started archery, I didn't know anything about this subject. When I tried practicing, I saw that my brothers, sisters, and fellow trainees attracted me, and I wanted to pick up a bow and shoot. I began to love this subject and conquered it. Switching to archery, the difficult thing is getting used to and keeping up with everyone. In basketball, we only get to know women together because it is a team sport, but in archery there are both men and women. At that time, I still remember it took me a month to get to know everyone on the team."
But what only the grassroots coach knows clearly is that in the early stages of getting used to the new sport, Anh Nguyet encountered many psychological problems and at one time wanted to leave Hanoi sports to go home to continue studying culture. . However, teachers and friends from sports teams encouraged Anh Nguyet to return to that turning point, helping Vietnamese sports have an excellent female archer participating in the Olympics now.
Adding to the surprise, the Vietnamese Sports Delegation preparing for the 2024 Paris Olympics (France) proposed her to be on the selection list to be the flag bearer at the Opening Ceremony. Although there has not been an official decision, if this happens, Anh Nguyet will receive that honor for the first time in her career. She even appeared in the prestigious Olympic arena of international sports. At this time, the time to go to France to compete was still measured in days and Anh Nguyet and the Vietnamese archery team were very focused.
“I still remember, after returning from the Tokyo (Japan) 2020 Olympics, I returned to the normal life of an athlete and practiced and competed hard. My life is not in any turmoil. Now, I get another shot at the Olympics and I find it exciting for myself. But one thing is for sure, when I appeared at the Olympics, I became more known and I was happy when people paid attention to archery. Vietnamese archery is gaining interest from fans, so the investment will definitely be effective," Anh Nguyet added.
