However, professionals always understand that glory will have to go hand in hand with long-term training and preparation. That is, Vietnamese volleyball must build a force of young players as the "foundation" of development, avoiding breakdowns in each stage.
On the professional level of youth (age group U18, U20), the Vietnam Volleyball Federation often seeks opportunities to send Vietnamese female players to participate in tournaments in Asia. This year, the Vietnam U18 Women's Volleyball Team is competing in the 2026 Southeast Asian U18 Championship, the 2026 Asian U18 Championship. Two years ago, the Vietnam U20 Women's Volleyball Team competed in the 2024 Asian U20 Championship, then won a spot to participate in the 2025 World U21 Championship.
In fact, the National Youth Volleyball Teams are the tip of the iceberg of expertise. The root is the selection, investment and training right at each local team.
Every year, the National Volleyball Tournament system organizes 3 youth-level tournaments including: National Youth Championship, National Youth Club Championship, National U23 Championship. However, it is still very difficult for each unit to train and introduce promising players to participate in the above tournaments. Human resources are not always abundant when recruited.
It can be seen that 14 players of the Vietnam U18 Women's Volleyball Team are the most typical faces of the country's young women's volleyball. Two years ago, 14 faces who used to be in the Vietnam U20 Women's Volleyball Team were also like that. However, they must show the correct expectations of the coaches that they must mature effectively instead of missing the beat and not being able to become famous in the future.
