Not only is it an activity to respond to Workers' Month 2026, towards the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, the tournament also has special significance as this is the first worker football tournament organized after the administrative unit arrangement between Dong Thap and Tien Giang.
First tournament after province merger
The tournament takes place in 2 days (May 22nd and 23rd), gathering 30 teams with nearly 400 athletes who are union members, workers from grassroots trade unions, commune and ward trade unions, industrial parks and economic zones in the province.
To create favorable conditions for participating teams, the Organizing Committee arranged qualifying rounds in 2 areas My Tho and Cao Lanh. In which, My Tho area has 18 teams, which is the venue for the final round and closing ceremony, awards ceremony; Cao Lanh area has 12 teams participating in competition.
Right from the opening ceremony, the atmosphere at the football fields was exciting with the enthusiastic cheers of a large number of union members and workers. Many exciting and dramatic matches took place with the spirit of solidarity, honesty and fair play.

Mr. Tang Huu Phuoc - the player who won the title of "Top scorer" of the tournament - shared: "The thing I am happiest about is not scoring many goals but meeting workers in many different units. The tournament is very fun, professional and creates a sense of solidarity like a big family".
Meanwhile, Mr. Nguyen Quoc Hung - the best goalkeeper of the tournament - said: "Workers really need playgrounds like this after a stressful working time. The tournament helps us train our health, interact and create more motivation in our work.

Increase solidarity
According to Ms. Ngo Thi Thuy Trang, Vice President of Dong Thap Provincial Labor Federation, this year's tournament is of special significance because it is the first large-scale activity of the Trade Union organization after the merger.
Through the tournament, we want to create an environment for union members and workers to exchange and strengthen solidarity between localities and units throughout the province. The encouraging thing is that the participating teams are very enthusiastic, play civilizedly, in the true spirit of noble sports and receive great encouragement from union members and workers," Ms. Trang shared.

In the coming time, the Trade Union organization will continue to maintain and expand cultural, artistic, and sports activities to better care for the spiritual life of union members and workers.

Closing the tournament, the Organizing Committee awarded the First, Second, Third, and Consolation prizes along with individual prizes to collectives and athletes who achieved excellent results. More importantly, the titles are the spirit of solidarity and attachment that the tournament has built among union members and workers throughout the province after the merger.

Through the 2026 Dong Thap Provincial Workers' Football Tournament, the Provincial Labor Federation also hopes that this will be a milestone for the connection and companionship of the Trade Union organization with workers in the new period.
