85 projects, 33 models
According to the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor, the unit has proactively implemented a plan to direct all levels of the provincial Trade Union to organize a series of events and activities focused on 2024. Launched a special emulation campaign to achieve achievements to celebrate major holidays of the year and celebrate the 95th anniversary of the founding of the Vietnam Trade Union and achieved many outstanding results.
Organize the Competition for excellent union officials at district and provincial levels. Launch a special emulation movement, with 15/15 district and city labor federations, 3/3 industry unions and 10/17 grassroots unions under the provincial labor federation registering to compete, implementing 85 projects, 33 models, products, and welcoming tasks. The total value is over 9.2 billion VND, estimated to benefit and save the budget about 6 billion VND to serve the safe travel needs of tens of thousands of households and workers.
As a result, over 200,000 union members, workers and people benefited from the Union's care programs.
Union members and people join hands and unite
In 2024, the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor held a ceremony to put up the "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful - Safe" project sign in Van Khanh Dong commune, An Minh district. The project was implemented in nearly 6 months, shortening the expected time by 4 months. The project length is 14.5km, with a total construction cost of 376 million VND.
Chairwoman of the An Minh District Labor Federation Ton Thi Kim Vui said: The District Labor Federation has coordinated with the local government to mobilize from the district-level departments, branches, unions, contributions from benefactors, union members, workers and socialized sources. Especially, the participation of 350 union members, local people took turns to help install lights, plant more than 5,000 peony bushes and 100 royal poinciana trees, and mobilize people to clean up the environment...
Or the project "Nghia tinh que huong 9 bridge, Yen Quy hamlet, Nam Yen commune serving people's lives" is also in the emulation campaign and has been recognized. The An Bien district Labor Federation said that it has coordinated with the local government to mobilize the construction of a traffic bridge. The bridge is 40m long, 3.3m wide, built in about 1.5 months, with a total value of 350 million VND.
The funding source for the project was mobilized from generous donors and union members in the district. Dozens of union members and workers also participated in supporting working days to carry out the project.
Vice President of the Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Trang Thi Bich Ngoc said: The bridge construction helps to expand traffic, people and especially students can travel safely. The new bridge also enhances the beauty of Yen Quy hamlet. Through this, it also raises awareness of union members in participating in humanitarian, social and charitable activities; joining hands with the locality in implementing new rural construction.
Or the project "Traffic bridge connecting Group 1, 2 in Tan Dien hamlet, Giuc Tuong commune, Chau Thanh district" surveyed and implemented by the District Labor Federation in coordination with the Party Committee - People's Committee of Giuc Tuong commune and the Red Cross Society of Mong Tho A commune received the support of the people.
The bridge is 17m long, 3.5m wide, and the total value of the project is 170 million VND. The project has mobilized resources from benefactors, union members and people, helping to save the state budget. Dozens of union members and workers participated in helping to pour columns and concrete for the project.
Mr. Tran Van Cam - a local resident - said: "Local people are very happy to have a new bridge that makes traveling easier and more convenient, making it easier for us to do business, and students have less worries about going to school."
Permanent Vice President of Kien Giang Provincial Federation of Labor Pham Van Dang commented: "The success of this project in particular as well as other models and projects is the result of the continuous efforts of Party committees at all levels, local authorities, the consensus of benefactors, construction units, the District Federation of Labor and the enthusiastic participation of union members."
Summarizing the special emulation period, the Provincial Federation of Labor recognized 54 projects, and selected 11 projects with practical significance in contributing to economic and social development; commended 48 collectives and individuals with many outstanding achievements in organizing and participating in the emulation movement.
To continue promoting the achievements, Mr. Pham Van Dang suggested that Party committees and authorities at all levels continue to pay attention and create favorable conditions for effective implementation of Trade Union activities. In the coming time, there will be more meaningful projects bringing practical benefits to union members, workers and people.
