On August 9, Chairman of Lam Dong Provincial Labor Federation - Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang said that the unit is focusing on surveying to establish trade unions in the province.
After merging Lam Dong province, the whole province has 124 communes, wards and special zones (including 20 wards, 103 communes and 1 special zone). The provincial trade union currently has more than 1,000 grassroots trade unions, with over 92.3 thousand union members and workers.
It is worth mentioning that many grassroots trade unions in remote areas have difficulties in the management and guidance of the Provincial Federation of Labor, especially in consulting and resolving labor disputes.
"We organize many working groups, assign staff to closely monitor the area, support grassroots trade unions and conduct surveys to develop more union members and establish grassroots trade unions," Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang shared.
Mr. Hoang also said that through surveying and grasping the situation, the unit has developed a project to establish a commune, ward and special zone trade union in the province, and submitted it to the competent authority for approval. Accordingly, the unit will establish 30 trade unions of communes, wards, clusters of communes, wards and special zones 5.
Specifically, 17 units are qualified to establish commune-level trade unions, including 5 commune trade unions, 11 ward trade unions and 1 special union in Phu Quy area. These are key areas with many businesses and workers, and need to be closely cared for by the Trade Union organization.
In addition, 107 communes and wards do not meet the requirements for the number of union members and the number of grassroots unions established at the commune level according to regulations. The unit will establish 13 inter-commune and ward union clusters to monitor and support grassroots unions, union members and workers in the area.
Mr. Hoang added that at the same time, the survey unit established trade unions in industrial parks and clusters, determined to "where there are workers, there are trade unions".
Currently, there are 13 industrial parks and industrial clusters in operation in the province. It is forecasted that in the period of 2026 - 2030, there will be over 50,000 workers working in these industrial parks.
This is also a key area for us to focus on developing union members and establishing grassroots unions in the coming time; contributing to taking care of workers and accompanying the development of businesses and localities, said Mr. Nguyen Phu Hoang.
