On May 21, the Quang Tri Provincial Labor Federation said that it had just coordinated with the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board to work with 8 businesses in Hon La Seaport Economic Zone to grasp the situation of labor, employment and the implementation of policies for workers; and at the same time propagate and mobilize to develop union members and establish grassroots trade unions.
According to the report, currently 8 businesses are operating with a total of 274 workers, of which 215 people have signed labor contracts.
The majority of businesses have relatively well implemented regimes and policies for employees such as salaries, bonuses, working hours, rest hours, social insurance, occupational safety and health, vocational training...
However, due to the lack of a representative organization for workers at the grassroots level, the implementation of democracy at the grassroots level, dialogue, collective bargaining and the role of representing and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers have not been given due attention.
In the context that many businesses are still facing difficulties and the labor force is fluctuating, the task of both ensuring jobs and protecting the legitimate and lawful rights and interests of workers associated with union member development and establishing grassroots trade unions requires flexibility and practicality.
Therefore, the Provincial Labor Federation and the Provincial Economic Zone Management Board have proactively approached businesses right from the start of operation to listen to the thoughts of workers, remove concerns of employers, thereby creating trust in the trade union organization.
Through the working session, many businesses have recognized the role of trade union organizations in building harmonious and stable labor relations, contributing to improving labor productivity and increasing the attachment of workers to businesses.
The majority of businesses expressed their agreement, support and committed to creating favorable conditions in terms of time, facilities, and human resources to coordinate and support workers in establishing grassroots trade unions.
