On the morning of May 15, the Central Committee of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin met with the press, providing information about activities on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam (August 10, 1961 - August 10, 2026) and launching a campaign to support Vietnamese Agent Orange victims.
Attending were Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh - Chairman of the Vietnam Association of Agent Orange Victims (NNCDC)/dioxin; Major General Do Hong Lam - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Association of NCDC/dioxin Victims; Colonel Pham Xuan Hung - Vice Chairman - Director of the Vietnam NCDC/dioxin Fund.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh said that 2026 is the year marking the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam (1961-2026). Therefore, activities on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam are not only for remembrance and gratitude but also the responsibility of the community at home and abroad for NNCĐDC in Vietnam.
With the above spirit, the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin focuses on 3 key activities: organizing the 5th Advanced Typical Congress "For Agent Orange Victims" (period 2026-2031); preparing and organizing the 6th Congress, term 2026-2031 of the Vietnam Association for Victims of Agent Orange/dioxin and meeting "65 years - from disaster to the journey of joining hands to soothe the pain of Agent Orange", Mr. Chinh said.
According to Senior Colonel Pham Xuan Hung, in 2025, with the help of collaborators and partners, especially the concern and assistance of press agencies, the Vietnam NNCĐDC/dioxin Fund received thousands of donations from people at home and abroad, and international organizations. The total amount mobilized is more than 9.3 billion VND.
Also at the program, Major General Do Hong Lam - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam NCD/dioxin Association introduced activities on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam with the theme "65 years - from disaster to the journey of joining hands to soothe the pain of Agent Orange".
Accordingly, Associations at all levels nationwide promote propaganda in many forms, especially in the mass media about the consequences of chemical toxins after the war. Based on specific conditions, Associations at all levels organize activities such as meetings, typical advanced congresses for NNCĐDC; proactively advise Party committees, authorities, Fatherland Front at all levels; coordinate with agencies, units, localities... to organize peak periods of mobilizing domestic and international resources.
For activities chaired by the Central Association, the 5th Advanced Typical Congress "For NNCĐDC", phase 2026-2031 will be organized to evaluate the achieved results and determine directions and goals, continue to promote the "For NNCĐDC" emulation movement in the coming time; organize the "Orange - Awareness and Justice" exhibition; organize a meeting on the occasion of the 65th anniversary of the Agent Orange disaster in Vietnam and receive awards from the Party and State for the Association; the Vietnam Association for NNCĐDC/dioxin will coordinate with partners to implement the online running race "Walking with Affection", and communication events to raise funds to support NNCĐDC.
At the program, Lieutenant General Nguyen Huu Chinh received a symbolic plaque from sponsors supporting the Vietnam NNCĐDC Fund. The program also held a signing ceremony for the cooperation program "Walking with Affection - 65 years of joining hands to soothe the pain of Agent Orange".
