Speaking at the launching ceremony, Mr. Dinh Sy Dat - Standing Vice Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee of Hoan Kiem Ward, Chairman of the Trade Union of Hoan Kiem Ward said that the "Green Saturday - exchanging recyclable waste for gifts" model being implemented is a practical activity, with the meaning of widely propagating the "Sparkling, Green, Clean, Beautiful" movement in each agency, unit, business and throughout the ward.
The model aims to encourage union members, civil servants, public employees, and workers of grassroots trade unions to carry out waste classification at source; minimize the amount of waste discharged into the environment.
This is not only an environmental protection activity, collecting recyclable waste but also raising community awareness about environmental protection, especially in sorting and treating waste at source.
The model being implemented is also an opportunity for each union official, employee, civil servant and laborer of Hoan Kiem ward to show the spirit of solidarity, joining hands to build Hoan Kiem ward to be increasingly civilized, bright - green - clean - beautiful and environmentally friendly.
At the program, officials, union members, workers, and people brought garbage to exchange for products such as flower plants, towels, toothbrushes...
With the requirement to create a spread among union members, civil servants and employees of grassroots trade unions, the model also contributes to propagating and replicating the model "Exchanging recyclable waste for gifts" associated with the "Green Saturday" movement, the "Bright - Green - Clean - Beautiful" emulation movement in Hoan Kiem ward.
To deepen the movement, the Hoan Kiem Ward Trade Union will maintain this model on the last Saturday of the months of the year.
The Green Saturday model - exchanging recycled waste for gifts is organized to promote the role of union members, civil servants, public employees, and workers of grassroots trade unions in building a civilized lifestyle, creating a green, clean, and beautiful living environment associated with practical actions to celebrate the 14th Vietnam Trade Union Congress, term 2026-2031.
