On the morning of July 1st, at the tennis court complex of the Binh Duong New City Community Sports Center (Binh Duong ward, Ho Chi Minh City), the Vietnam Tennis Federation (VTF) in coordination with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Culture and Sports and LUMINOUS Trading Investment Joint Stock Company (AP SPORTS Club) organized the opening ceremony of the National Youth Tennis Championship and the National Youth Team Tennis Championship - VTF Juniors Tour 2, 3 - AP SPORTS Cup 2026.
The event took place in the atmosphere of celebrating the 50th anniversary of Saigon City - Gia Dinh officially honored to be named after President Ho Chi Minh (July 2, 1976 - July 2, 2026), and also opened the series of the most important youth tournaments of the year for Vietnamese tennis.
The tournament gathers more than 400 athletes from 14 delegations across the country, competing in age groups U8, U10, U12, U14, U16 and U18. The competition contents include men's singles, women's singles, men's doubles, women's doubles and mixed doubles. This is considered an important playground for young players to accumulate experience, improve professional qualifications, and also a basis for localities to evaluate the effectiveness of youth training and select promising faces for national teams.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, Mr. Nguyen Hong Son - Vice President cum General Secretary of the Vietnam Tennis Federation said that youth training always plays a fundamental role in the strategy of developing Vietnamese tennis. Maintaining the annual youth tournament system with increasingly expanding scale shows VTF's determination to build a professional competition environment, creating conditions for young athletes to develop comprehensively.
The continuous organization of two tournaments belonging to the VTF Juniors Tour 2026 system is expected to contribute to discovering and fostering a quality successor force, creating a foundation for Vietnamese tennis to aim for goals in regional and international arenas.
