According to the enrollment plan for the first grade of the 2026-2027 school year, Ho Chi Minh City continues to implement enrollment into grade 6 of enhanced foreign language programs and foreign language 2, in order to improve foreign language proficiency for students according to national and international standards.
According to regulations, the organization of foreign language enhancement classes must ensure the implementation of the 2018 General Education Program at the secondary school level, and at the same time support students to meet the standards according to the 6-level Foreign Language Proficiency Framework for Vietnam or the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The list of schools organizing and subjects for admission is implemented according to the plan to mobilize children to attend classes and enroll at the beginning level of each locality, along with the guidance of the Department of Education and Training (GDĐT).
The subjects prioritized for admission are students who have completed the corresponding foreign language program at the primary school level.
In case the quota is not enough, schools will consider additional admissions from students who have been admitted to grade 6 en masse, wish to register and meet the conditions: Having a foreign language certificate as required by the school and professional guidance; Ensuring compliance with the quota and class size as prescribed.
For schools that need to organize foreign language class 2, the implementation must be based on the existing teaching staff and the actual needs of students, and comply with the regulations of the Ministry of Education and Training.
Educational institutions must develop implementation plans for the entire secondary school level, starting from grade 6, and submit them to the Department of Education and Training for approval before implementation.
The first-level enrollment steering committee in the locality is responsible for appraising and approving the list of admitted students proposed by the schools, ensuring the correct targets, subjects and enrollment criteria according to regulations.
