In Buon Ma Thuot (Dak Lak), the movement to learn and perform piano in recent years has recorded many positive changes.
In 2025, a notable music event took place in Buon Ma Thuot when the National Piano Festival 2025 was held in this city. The program is co-organized by musician Truong Huu An and the Vietnam Musicians Association.
In that context, musician Truong Huu An - a member of the Vietnam Musicians Association, believes that piano in Vietnam is still in the process of development and needs more conditions to reach more widely to the public.

Sharing with Lao Dong Newspaper reporters, he said that in large cities, learning piano has become more popular than before. However, in many localities, especially outside large cultural centers, access to this subject still has certain limitations.
According to musician Truong Huu An, one of the difficulties comes from the perception of a part of the public about the role of piano in music. "In the perception of some people, piano artists are sometimes seen as'accompaniers' for singers or performers. But in professional music, piano is the central instrument, playing an important role in solos, instrumentals as well as in music training," he said.
He believes that changing this view requires time, and at the same time, it is necessary to strengthen music education and expand performing activities, helping the public better understand the position of piano in artistic life.
In addition, the issue of tuition fees is also a frequently mentioned factor when talking about piano popularization. According to musician Truong Huu An, in the past, learning piano was somewhat associated with economic conditions, due to the quite high cost of musical instruments and training.
Even myself used to go through a difficult period when studying music. Having a piano for practice is not easy," he shared.
However, according to him, in recent years, access to musical instruments has gradually improved. Finding a source of quality pianos at a more affordable price has helped many students have more opportunities to access this subject.
In addition to material conditions, musician Truong Huu An emphasized that the most important factor for learners is still passion and perseverance in the training process.
From the perspective of a music training worker, he believes that for piano to develop further in Vietnam, there needs to be a combination of education, performance environment and professional activities.
There needs to be more playgrounds such as festivals, competitions or performance programs so that young people have the opportunity to show their abilities and learn from each other in the art environment," he said.
In addition, the connection between teachers, artists and organizations operating in the field of music is also considered an important factor to improve the quality of training and create a positive learning environment.
According to musician Truong Huu An, when music education is given due attention and there are more suitable artistic activities, piano will gradually become closer to the public, especially the younger generation.
